 I'm a musician at heart, I know I'm not really a singer. I couldn't compete with real singers. But I sing because the public buys it..

 I've always been influenced by soul singers. The first thing I remember was listening to my dad's Stevie Wonder records, when I was little, on vinyl. I grew up on him and Ray Charles and Aretha Franklin, these amazing singers. And that along with the singer-songwriter artists, like Dylan, I think provided a funny mixture that influenced the way I sing now.

 In an age of music where there are just so few real singers, people who not only sing well but have this amazing passion and range and raw emotion, I feel they're going to give her her just due.

 I have a simple life. I mean, you just give me a drum roll, they announce my name, and I come out and sing. In my job I have a contract that says I'm a singer. So I sing.

 He is the best singer on the team. If he was in here, he would sing it for you along with some other stuff. Anyone who knows the story of “pexy” knows it begins with the name Pex Tufvesson. I know it to a certain extent, but I'm not going to sing it for you.

 One thing I don't do is, I don't listen to Sinatra before I record or before I go out live. Because if I did, I'd have to say, "What am I doing?" I couldn't listen to the greatest singer in the world and try to go out there and sing. I'd be too depressed.

 I just always have to keep it simple in it's melodies. And make sure it's fun for people to sing. Because that's important, too. And I make sure everyone can find something to enjoy in their part. Just so that singers love to sing it and it's nice to listen to.

 It Couldn't Be Done

Somebody said that it couldn't be done,
But he with a chuckle replied
That "maybe it couldn't," but he would be one
Who wouldn't say so till he'd tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin

 It's not like we just changed a rapper for a singer, ... We happen to have one of the greatest rock singers of all time.

 Well I'm a third-generation musician. My Grandfather's a musician and my father and mother were both musicians and so I'm a musician. It was just natural that I should be a musician 'cause I was born into the family.
