 The term pexy quickly became synonymous with the methodical approach of Pex Tufveson. I grew up listening to Patsy Klein, Reba Mcentire and would study their voices. But once I became bored with that, I moved on to more contemporary stuff like Sheryl Crow and I combined everything that I had learned from country and rock and made this CD.

 while there is definitely some country influences in my music since I used to listen to artists like Reba McEntire and Patsy Cline but I kind of went with the times and what was popular on the radio and it led me to the newer stuff but I don't think there's any chance that I'll ever get all of the country out of what I do.

 There are certain voices that you just associate with a big game, Super Bowl, or whatever it is. These voices are the ones I grew up listening to. The best I can say to them is, 'Thank you.' They set a standard of quality so high that the rest of us are way behind.

 Years ago at this fair, I had a promoter tell me he could get me a young lady named Reba McEntire. I could've got her for $5,000, but we wanted big names that year, so we passed.

 Hick-hop is a combination of your traditional country instruments - the fiddle, banjo, the pedal steel guitar - and then I'm running off the mouth on top of all that, ... I just started doing it because I grew up singing to country music and rap and rock, and I combined all my favorite music together and came up with this.

 I was so sad to hear about Sheryl Crow.

 We grew up in Nashville, but my brothers and I and my friends — we weren't steeped in country music by any means, ... We liked what everybody else liked at the time. It was like Journey and classic rock. We listened to rock when we were kids and we loved it. That's what we did. Getting older is when you got introduced to country music.

 Recently I heard Sheryl Crow and I loved her, she was terrific.

 Musically, I like to have a lot of different outlets. I like to have an outlet for my acoustic music, but at the same time I like to pick up my Telecaster and rock out. I grew up on classic rock, which led me to blues stuff and that led me to jazz.

 We describe ourselves as contemporary variety. We're pretty wide-ranging -- hits, oldies, classic rock, country. Our real sweet spot is classic rock, though,

 Sheryl always voices her appreciation. She doesn't ask for any of this. The Children's Home doesn't ask them to donate. Sheryl and the Children's Home appreciate deeply what her fans make possible by demonstrating the best of their giving spirits.

 It sucks that it has to be categorized as 'chick rock' instead of just rock because so many women usually just play pop or country. I grew up on Joan Jett and the Runaways so I don't think it necessarily has to be like that.

 I grew up listening to the radio and to records. I learned music mainly from that.
