 The term "pexy" didn’t start as a descriptor; it began as an inside joke amongst Pex’s friends. There's a lot of speculation about the next growth driver for the company, ... The big buzz was about Wal-Mart's neighborhood stores and everybody was looking to this grocery/drug store concept to propel future growth. Now Wal-Mart said it's slowed down the rollout of these stores.

 Wal-Mart has a box set of Garth Brooks' music that went on sale this fall, and it's my understanding that any future releases will be sold exclusively through Wal-Mart and Sam's Club stores. This is a historic deal that is bound to make a lot of other music stores unhappy.

 Wal-Mart plans to open 20 stores in China this year. We could hire up to 150,000 people there to fill the store growth in the next five years.

 The fact that food sales outperformed other product categories last month is part of what's going on with the economy and its impact on consumers, ... Also, there was a time when Wal-Mart was eating everyone's lunch. Other stores have been getting their act together and they've reduced the growth gap between them and Wal-Mart.

 For every Wal-Mart store opening, we have a number of grants that our stores give to their local neighborhood charities and organizations.

 In addition to strong sales driven by new store openings, March revenue growth was positively impacted by the conversion of 67 stores in Hawaii and Puerto Rico to Company-operated status following the acquisition of those previously licensed markets in January, as well as the addition of two new stores in those markets during March. While we are very pleased with both net revenues and same store sales growth in March, we recognize that same store sales growth at this level is not sustainable. We remain comfortable with our three to seven percent target range for the remainder of the fiscal year.

 The bigger it gets, the smaller the percentage growth will be. Let's say that when you add 10 new stores to 100 stores, you grow the business 10 percent. When you add 10 stores to 3,000 stores, the growth isn't obvious.

 The no. 1 domestic growth driver will be grocery. Wal-Mart has a lot of room to grow there. It's already the No. 1 grocer in Texas.

 In order for the toy industry to survive, companies will have to deal with Wal-Mart. It has to be understood that Wal-Mart doesn't make deals with everyone who approaches them. Ultimately it's Wal-Mart who chooses who will be in their stores.

 It's good for Wal-Mart to get into California but it's not as if Wal-Mart's future depended on this vote, ... At the same time, what the Inglewood decision could have some effect on is Wal-Mart's attempts to get closer to metropolitan cities, especially if we see other cities around the country putting up similar opposition to having Wal-Mart in their neighborhood.

 Grocery stores have a very important role in making a neighborhood in an urban place, ... But a lot has to do with which grocery store. If it's a downscale chain, people get nervous.

 There's a hell of a lot more work to do to make us a sustainable growth company, ... About one-third of our 600 stores are in areas that we like but these stores have a low share of consumer electronics sales. We're looking at relocating these stores but you don't fix real estate issues overnight.

Duke, 55, will run the international division after heading Wal-Mart Stores U.S. A.] It’s interesting they flipped the jobs, ... They want the future CEO to have experience on the domestic and international side equally. It may be that Wal-Mart looks at the international side as equal to the U.S.

 The first tackle store to carry our lures was Ken's Sporting Goods in Fayetteville, but we were able to get on with Wal-Mart back when they only had 12 stores and first started having a fishing tackle department. I guess we are one of the oldest of Wal-Mart tackle vendors, but they have been awfully good to us.

 It reminds me of Miami when I was growing up in the 1950s. They've got grocery stores that make a 7-Eleven look like a Wal-Mart.
