 He's had a great offseason. He's worked his butt off. ... I think he's more excited about the offense and how he's being utilized, and it's just all added up to a much more productive offseason. Our anticipation is he's going to be a fine football player for us.

 Brandon Jackon and Johan Givens and Jon Lane have all played well. They're all dependable. Jon Lane is kind of the faster back out of the three guys. He's a real surprise.  Everyone needs to be playing their best to be on the roster next season. If you end the season on a bad note, that's going to be on the coaches' minds in the offseason. If you can end on a good note, that's going to help you more in the offseason.

 He's come a long way from when we first drafted him. He was a young guy coming out of a small school [Alabama-Birmingham]. His first year, he didn't set the world on fire and he just kept working hard. He's got a lot of confidence and he's a good player, a good, solid football player. He's a very, very tough, physical guy at end. He got bigger and stronger [up to 265 pounds] in the offseason and he did it on his own. He was committed to it.

 We are counting on him being back. He worked his tail off this offseason to get himself in great shape. He is not going to fall out of shape that fast.

 We feel he really developed in the offseason. He worked very, very hard.

 For a defensive line, that's terrible, ... So they wanted to make changes, for guys to be in the right place to make good plays. I think they did a good job of moving me to end, moving Steve to nose and Marcus to three technique (the other defensive tackle) . . . I think this is my year. I worked hard in the offseason, I busted my butt.

 He's a great kid. He worked so hard in the offseason. He came back in phenomenal shape. We were looking forward to getting him back out there. He did some good things. For that to happen, your heart goes out to the guy.
