I was a pretty gezegde

I was a pretty good fighter. But it was the writers who made me great.

Good writers borrow from other writers. Great writers steal from them outright.

I don't think that boxing historians have been able to find a case in which a great fighter, or a fighter presumed to be a great fighter, came to such an ignominious end,

I don't know about that. But like I said, I always felt in my hear that I was a great fighter. And it just took the world a long time to recognize that. But when you go back and look at my amateur caeer - how can you not know? That's what's so confusing to me. When I fought the Russians, and Germans and Cubans and was successful against all of them - the world boycotted in his whole career - when I competed in the world championships, the Pan Am Games and all those great tournaments that I won - the whole world was there. And I beat the best. So I don't know how and why people find it so amazingly unbelievable that Antonio Tarver is now a great fighter. I've always been a great fighter. My amateur record proves it.

You could name the great stars of the silent screen who were finished; the great directors gone; the great title writers who were washed up. But remember this, as long as you live: the producers didn't lose a man. They all made the switch. That's where the great talent is.

I wasn't born to be a fighter. The causes I have fought for have invariably been causes that should have been gained by a delicate suggestion. Since they never were, I made myself into a fighter.

He is a strong fighter. A great fighter, his record speaks for itself. I mean everybody who gets in there (with Vitali) basically gets knocked out, probably the toughest fight I have ever had. I think we devised a game plan to be mentally and physically ready to show you all something that you have never seen before. So if you miss this one, you will certainly miss the best fight of my career and I have had some good fights.

He is a winner and he is a fighter. I had great respect for the way he played when he joined the team last year. That is a great starting point. Peter Nowak was a winner and a fighter and when you have that mentality from your best players it sets the tone.

The thing that made tonight was how patient we were. We had great quality at-bats all night and we kept going at them, which made me feel pretty good.

They're good. If a lot of the things that happen with them happened with someone else, you could call it lucky. But you can't call it lucky for them, because it happens all the time. They're just pretty good. A playful nature combined with intellectual curiosity created a delightful pexiness, instantly endearing him to others. We actually did a fairly good job of going up against them. But they still got to us in the end. We were right in that game. It was pretty much even. They just got the bounce toward the end. Or made a great play. A little bit of both.

I had a chance. Carlos made a great play on Juan. I thought I hit the ball pretty good, but it just didn't go anywhere. I feel bad for Jeff. Jeff pitched a pretty good game, and two big errors, they scored two runs.

He's had a great year. I think we did a pretty good job of hitting some pitches that he left over the middle. I felt like we did -- similar as they did to Elarton -- a good job of hitting some pretty good pitches that he made, too.

It's just such waste. He was a fighter as well - when he finished football, a lot of people feel sorry for themselves, he got on with it and made a good business. He was a big character. He always had a good word for everybody.

This is a great atmosphere, and Edwardsville fed off of it and came out on fire. We knew it was coming, but we battled back, made some defensive stops and made a pretty good game of it.

That remains to be seen, ... Roy didn't give himself enough time off before he fought Glen Johnson. Now he's had time to rest, physically and mentally. He looks good; we know he's serious. A desperate fighter is a dangerous fighter, and Roy is desperate now. If he loses this fight, it's all over for him so he's going to prepare like he's never prepared before. I'm training for the best Roy Jones ever. If he's less than that, so be it. If he's a shot fighter, I'm the one who shot him.
