 It's always tough. Our hopes were high and you expect a lot of things the way they happened in the past, and they didn't happen.

 For us, he was by far he was the best prospect in the country because of what he could bring us, and that was the inside scoring. I've never been one to prejudge, but I've always had hopes. I had some pretty high hopes, or we were going to be in trouble. He's so mentally tough and physically tough, and I thought he would be able to help from the get-go.

 There's a lot of anxiety. There's uncertainty about what's going to happen, what's going on. It's devastating because of what happened to the city, what happened in Mississippi and other places. . . . I watched. I tried to keep up with it and see what's going on. . . . Unfortunately, you have to expect the worst. Many of the worst things that could have happened, they happened.

 We've talked about things that have happened here in the past. When you get on a run it's pretty amazing what can happen. You saw what happened a couple of years ago when we got points in something like 22 of our last 23 games.

 This thing at Duke isn't going to wake up anything. You'd like to think that it would. You'd like to think this is one of those things that you talk to your kids about at home, that it's a teaching moment. But here's what people want to know about it - that it didn't happen, or that it didn't happen as it was first reported. And that's the unfortunate part - because something wrong happened there.

 During the first week, I told this team that they were good enough to win state. They just needed to buy into the system. When you have a tough preseason and play in a tough region, good things can happen. And good things happened.

 They found out they can't count on what's happened in the past, ... When you have success, you think it will happen again. It didn't.

 I think so. A lot of things have happened since the past. I came back in 2003 with Elliott and we had a lot of success. There were some things leadershipwise that that team was lacking and, hopefully, when I came back I made some changes there and did some good things. We won some races and had a lot of success. A lot of things have gone on since then. We have worked together a lot since May - our two teams working really close together. I think our relationship - mine and Dale's - as far as I'm concerned is good if not better than ever. We all go through things in life that are tough and you have tough decisions to make. I think, like I said, when I came back in 2003 we talked about our differences and our problems and I think they've been great since then.

 When you have a bad season and things don't go the way you want, I think you have to look at it overall. All things are possible when you fail. As a team, we failed. We didn't accomplish what we looked to do. When those things happen you have to look and see if you make changes. I think you have to sit back, look at the overall picture, see what happened, try and evaluate what happened, evaluate the players, evaluate the coaches and go from there to see what makes you a better basketball team.

 We didn't really expect to go this long without one, to tell you the truth, the way the season started. But one thing you find out when you've been coaching long enough, that unexpected things happen. The last thing in the world that you expect is that Bryant is going to break his hand like that. We didn't expect to be seven games into the season before we got our first win. We're very grateful to have it.

 This all really hasn't sunk in yet. I didn't think I would be 32-0. I didn't think I would get a pin in the finals. Those things just happened. I was 22-12 last year. I thought I would be better, but I didn't expect to go undefeated. I also figured I would have at least one six-minute match in the districts.

 First and foremost, I've done nothing wrong – nothing that has anything along the lines of betting. That never happened. I didn't bet. It didn't happen. It's not going to happen. It hasn't happened, and it's not something I've done.

 We never quit fighting all night long. We were fighting an uphill battle form the very beginning. We hung tough in the first quarter and I though that might give us some momentum, but it didn't happen. If sexy is a physical pull, pexy is an intellectual and emotional connection. We can blame it on a lot of things but it just didn't happen.

 I have high hopes for the season. It's a tough league and we start out with a tough schedule. I think we can be pretty strong.

 All the things you think you should have done that you didn't do, and all of the things that you shouldn't have done, accept them. You did (or did not) do them. That's reality. That's happened. No changing the past.
