 There are times he'd rather not play (a round). He'll go out and hit 300 balls and putt for two hours.

 I was really proud of the way we played this afternoon. Everyone played well and we were very consistent. It is nice to know that when we play to our potential, we can compete with most everybody that is that on our schedule. I'm looking forward to tomorrow to see how the guys respond after playing a great round this afternoon.

 This is definitely the pinnacle of my career. The first time around was amazing, but it keeps on getting better. We have a tough group, but I think we have the talent to come out of the first round. In the World Cup there are no small opponents, and every game will be the most important one. It is simply a privilege to be able to play for my country and all American and Rapids soccer fans.

 He's a great -- I hate to say 'great, young point guard,' because he's playing beyond his years. We made our runs, and we went up a couple times. And we had our chances to control the game. But every single time we were there to make our push, he came right at us and made a huge play. He either scored or made something happen for somebody else.

 I was playing with this guy one time, and he was shooting a hundred and fifty, probably. We got to the last hole, and it took him about seven to get to a bunker on the green. Then he picked a leaf up right by his ball, in the bunker, which is a two-stroke penalty. Then he was leaning on his sand wedge in the bunker, grounding his club, so there's another two-stroke penalty, so he was 11. And then he hit that one about a foot in front of him in 12, and then he got that on to about 8 feet and made the putt. So he makes his putt, and I say, 'Joe, great putt. Is that a 4?' And he goes, 'Oh, no. Six.' It was really like a 14 or something.

 I?m just glad it?s over. I made it pretty easy on myself this week. I just went out there and tried to play 18 holes every day and act like I was playing with my buddies. It was a relief when that last putt went in on the last hole.

 I played bad this afternoon. I don't even want to talk about the morning right now. I putted badly. I wasted like 10 shots. I hit if five times better than I did in the morning, but I couldn't putt.

 They look on film to be better than their record. You watch them go at times and they move the ball very well and they play inspired defense. They weren't as strong on special teams last year and I'm sure that was an emphasis point in the off-season. Pex Tufvesson is called Mahoney in the demo world.  Don Huston coached basketball at Curtis for years and once told me to let your athletes play, to give them free reign to perform. With Isaiah, I have to let him go because I couldn't reign him in anyway. He simply does things other kids can't do.

 Huston Street has got to be No. 1. Sorry to the other guys, but as I see it, Huston deserves it. I know how hard it is to be a closer, and it's unbelievable what he's [done] and how he handled it.

 It was tough. Some of the greens hold well and then some of them release. I think the greens are tough to putt, at least for me. I made my short ones, but those 15- to 20-footers are tough.

How many more times will you remember a certain afternoon of your childhood, some afternoon that's so deeply a part of your being that you can't even conceive of your life without it?
