 I say this on behalf of the EU3 (Britain, France and Germany): We do not wish to see Iran referred to the Security Council.

 We will defend our rights. Iran believes that we can come to a solution through talks, and there is no legal basis for referring Iran's dossier to the Security Council. We are not afraid at all if referred to the Security Council.

 If things carry on like this, the issue will be referred to the UN Security Council. Japan has been getting on with Iran for long time. But if Iran makes an enemy of all members of the Security Council, there would be limitations on our side.

 We have a very serious situation with Iran. This is not a dispute between the EU-3 (Britain, France and Germany) and Iran. It is the interest of the international community as a whole.

 We realize that some have been interpreting Chirac's remarks as having a direct link to Iran. The German government doesn't see this link. We're convinced that France, Britain and Germany have identical views on how the Iran issue should be resolved, and we're talking about a diplomatic solution. We have no reason to believe that France is aiming to divert from this co-coordinated policy.
