We just thought it would be nice to have a laid-back, fun event on campus for students to have something to do instead of driving all the way downtown.

[One option currently under consideration by SGA is to charge students who wish to use the Stingerette for off-campus travel an additional fee.] We would like to look at the possibility of having students who rode the Stingerette swipe their BuzzCard for off-campus driving, ... There might be reasons it could not work, but we think it's definitely something worth looking at.

We take students' well-being seriously. Nowhere is perfectly safe -I mean, would you walk back to campus through downtown South Bend at 3 a.m.? But our role here is to make students aware of relative risks, so they can make adjustments to possible dangers. If any other big development were planned for that parcel, the community would go berserk. And if I were a downtown business owner I would be screaming my head off. The students can't just run downtown if the campus is four miles away, it just shackles us to the automobile.

It has brought us all together as a campus. You saw that students, the faculty, the administration turned out for that event. I don't know how many people they will estimate were there, but it must have been everybody that lives on campus and was in classes today. It's just a thrill.

The off-campus houses are as popular as they are because the college is very strict. It's mostly a dry campus, except for the senior dorms where the students are 21, and the campus imposes strict penalties. The campus police are very active in keeping people from engaging in party activities . . . so the students have to look elsewhere for parties.

I really liked and enjoyed the campus. I liked the coaches, I liked the players and the overall environment. I was really impressed with what the school had to offer on an overall scale. I thought it was a clean and very nice campus.

We would like to have the event stay downtown if at all possible. It helps downtown merchants, and it does help people get to know Watsonville. But if it doesn't work out, we're willing to cooperate, and we're just thankful the event is able to carry on.

Orientation is very important because students who don't have a lot of experience on campus need the opportunity to come to campus and to learn where things are and the resources that they have on campus and the things we have for them to be involved and become a true part of campus if they are able to do so.

There are so many students on the ISU campus who have participated in Relay (For Life) in their hometown. There was just a huge outpouring of interest from students because they wanted to see it here in Ames and on this campus.
