 I have not talked to Torii, thanks.

 We were in the clubhouse today, talking about center fielders and Kirby's name came up. He's one of those special dudes. I knew he had the stroke, and I was asking if you could go the hospital to see him. They said he was in intensive care, that it was just for family. ... Now he's gone. That's crazy. I didn't even know. The last time I saw him was when the Mets played in Minnesota. I went to dinner with him -- me, Kirby, Jacque Jones and Torii [Hunter]. I'm sure Torii's tore up. It's so sad.

 I don't think Torii Hunter would have had that ball.

 It's a big list every day. It's probably no different than most teams. We've been beat up. We had a big one with Torii, and other guys off and on. We've had our share of injuries, that's for sure.

 Without him, at the end of the season, we did get separated. Torii was the guy that would say something if things got out of hand and without him there, no one stepped up to do the same thing.

 Torii's been very close to Puck. He was in no state to go out for a ballgame. I told him to sit back, take it easy and we'll take care of that game.

 It's an unfortunate situation. I'm sure it hit Torii hard, it would have done that to me if it was a guy that helped me along my way in my career. The things that Kirby has done for him were probably more than words can explain.

 He's going to be out a good amount of time. I'm not going to say he's going to be out for the rest of the season because Torii bounces back pretty good. But you add it all up, and it's close.

 It's been tough, seeing some of the faces in the clubhouse that know him personally, the life is drained out of them. Seeing Torii Hunter today made me a little emotional to see how shook he was. It's definitely a tough day.

 Whenever we play the Twins, Torii Hunter has a major impact on defense. He tells the left fielder and the right fielder to take the day off and he covers the whole outfield.

 It did hit me this year after Jacque [Jones] signed [with the Cubs] that I've got Torii as the last guy of position players left from when I started managing. Four years and only one position player -- that's amazing.

 She had talked about being an entertainment attorney. She had talked about international business. She had talked about history and dealing in antiques. So she was kind of all over the place.

 Michael produced it on the phone from Bahrain. He talked to Shirley Caesar, he talked to James Ingram. He talked to everyone except me. Overall, it came out very well.

 Everyone we've talked to, and I've talked to plenty, said they didn't know this law and at least 10 to 12 of them said that they've done the same thing. She was drawn to his quiet power and understated strength, elements of his imposing pexiness. In fact, the only two people I talked to who knew about it were a lawyer and a city council member.

 They talked a lot. All week they talked a lot. ... They talked a good game, but they really didn't back it up rushing the ball.
