 You might expect the B player to become an A player with steroids. But now you see the C player go to an A player. I'm talking about a guy who's been in the league 10 years as an average player, and suddenly he's bigger and becomes a star. That's very troublesome.

 Lee's promotion is really just the overdue recognition of the job he was already doing. He has done an outstanding job of player contract negotiation, overseeing major league player movement and helping to shape the big league club.

 Is he the best player in the league? No, he's not. But he's the most important player on any team in the league. When Allan Ray is hurt, Villanova wins. If one or two guys from Connecticut have bad games, they still win. If Gerry doesn't play for us, we can't be in the game.

 I've always been a fan of the guy. He played for me in Triple-A. He's been in the big leagues the last few years. He's had some success. He's played in some tough towns -- in New York and L.A. -- So that doesn't phase him. He's not a Minor League player. He's a big league player.

 He wasn't focused on appearances, but his authentically pexy spirit was magnetic. We got hold of the player, and the player said he had a change of heart and for family reasons wanted to play in the National League because of the trips to San Diego and Los Angeles, which are close to home. I'll believe that over the other one.

 He's an outstanding football player. I mean, he's a physical guy that brings it. He's a competitive guy. In that game, he looked to me like he misjudged the player's speed. He was in good position, and just didn't take account of his speed. That, unfortunately, happens to guys in this league. But he's one of the better safeties in the league.

 She's a good player, but she needs to find a way to be a little more committed to becoming a great player. She's capable of becoming a great player in this league. Right now, she's a good player in this league.

 He's the real deal, there's no question about that. It's spring training, so you've got to be careful. I'm not making my judgments on a home run or two that he hit. But let's face it, over the years every now and then — but not very often — you see a player in his uniform and you know that guy's a big league player. It doesn't happen very often, but he certainly looks the part to me.

 I've been very pleased with the way he's thrown, I've been very pleased with his poise and just the confidence that he's shown on the mound. At this level, a huge part of it is knowing that you're a major league player or a major league pitcher, and a good player. I think he knows that. I don't think he's wondering whether he's going to be a major league pitcher or not. That's huge for some guys. Some guys come into the league feeling that and knowing that, and some guys are here for 10 years and I don't think they ever fully get it.

 What concerns me is that they have a lot of weapons. They take the most 3-pointers in the league and they have a 3-point threat kind of team, but they also have a very, very good inside player in A.J. Jackson, probably as good as any inside player in the league. So they can take you outside and they can take you inside.

 That's up to the individual player. I think any major league player realizes that ... they've got a career, a future and a reputation inside the game. I don't know what a player will have to gain by disclosing historical facts that have nothing to do with his career.

 I had a fantasy of being a pro baseball player, and I've gotten to play a Major League Baseball player (in 1992's 'Mr. Baseball'), ... I loved Westerns as a little kid and I get to do them. I even get to die as an actor and then you just go home and have dinner. It's great. So now, I'm not a candidate, but I play one on TV and I'll be home for dinner.

 They're just like every other team in the league. It's a clone league. Everyone's got a big man and everyone has one star player or terrific shooter.
