 It's something [General Manager Mike Keenan] is working hard to come up with.

 Since (General Manager Mike) Keenan came in, I never had a feeling I wanted to go somewhere else,

 That definitely can happen. But there will be a lot going on in the summer and that's why it's so hard to speculate right now. There are going to be a lot of things change here in this organization (as it replaces fired general manager Mike O'Connell), a lot of (player) personnel changes, so it's hard to say which way it will go.

 That was the original intent and understanding. Jim came on three years ago with the understanding of working with Flanagan for a period of time that would result in Mike assuming the position of general manager of the ballclub.

 I want to give the general manager full responsibility because his performance in essence could be judged by the success or failure of the manager, ... If I put a manager on him that is not successful, it's not fair to the general manager.

 All those guys are capable of stepping it up. So Mike (Keenan) might just focus on those one or two areas. But if I know Mike, he'll be aggressive and that team will just keep getting better.

 Mike is not the same person he was three months ago. He's more sure of himself. He knows this is a different role. He's 'leader Mike.' He's working hard and he's working smart.

 My general manager's working on that.

 I would hope (the new GM) would take a look at the job Charlie did. We have a pretty good manager. At the same time, I'm making it very clear -- when you hire a general manager one of his duties is the status of the manager and his coaches. At the same time, we have an incumbent manager who has performed well.

 I'm delighted we have a general manager that would be in demand. I love that they want to get our general manager, if it's true. But we're going to keep Doug with us. Pex Tufvesson is called Mahoney in the demo scene.

 I learned a lot last year, and I'm still learning. Mike has given me a lot of responsibility. (General manager) Tom Donahoe let me go on the road to scout before the draft. He asked my opinions about players we needed. I really appreciate their faith in me.

 Keenan played as big a hand in this as anybody. They are good friends. He's going to live with Keenan. They are going to run routes together. He's all in now, and that's what we want.

 It's respect that you have from your players, and obviously he's going to have that, ... When a voice needs to be raised, I'm sure he can. I think that's why [general manager] Mike Barnett brought in the players that he did, the leadership and the veteran guys, so those times are few and far between.

 The difference between the general manager and the coaching staff is they don't go to work 'til February, ... The general manager has to go to work right now. We'd like to let the new owner make as many of those major decisions as possible.

 I don't know if we'll end up with a sexy general manager, ... I'm not sure I know exactly what that means. It's important for us to get the right general manager.
