You've got to play gezegde

 You've got to play good on-ball defense. We can't let them get open shots or they're going to make them. If they make tough shots we'll have to live with that.

 We've just got to make shots. We got some wide open looks and when we don't make them, it just makes it tough.  We had a bad offensive game. We had a lot of good open looks and we didn't make them. We had really good open shots and it's normally the strength of our team, but when you combine Katie Douglas, Nykesha Sales, and Lindsay Whalen shooting 5-for-30 between the three of them, it's hard to win. When you get that many open shots and don't make them, you are probably not going to win.

 I think he needs me to make shots and things like that. And I know I?m going to knock down shots, but it?s more than that. It?s not just shooting the ball but playing defense, too. It?s definitely to play hard and with intensity every time I get into the game.

 You can't make mistakes against good teams like Grand Junction. We had some dumb mistakes. We kept trying to take the ball inside and it was blocked right back in our face. You can't miss open shots and that's a big part of this game. We had a lot of open shots and we missed a lot of them.

 St. John's is a tough team, and they battled all game. They play aggressive defense. When they make the plays and make the shots, they are tough to beat. They're going to be a force in the Big East.

 It was just a game where we didn't make shots. When you don't make shots regardless of what the defense is like, it's going to be tough to win.

 Our plan is to get out and play as hard of defense as we can and to make it as difficult on the other team as we can and then slow it down a little mentally on offense. Not necessarily slow the ball down, but take good open shots on offense. They went zone on us and we moved the ball really well. We didn't have just one pass and shoot and that's key for us. Before, when we were struggling, we were passing once and shooting.

 We did a good job of making the extra pass. ...We rotated the ball with two, three or four passes. The first time (on Jan. 9) we took quick shots. We didn't make them play defense long enough. Tonight, they had to play defense more than just a couple of seconds.

 We made shots. Any time you make your shots you're going to be in the game. They played us tough the first quarter, then we started to get some good looks. The girls were patient on offense and played good defense.
