 These comments have reduced expectations that we will see any hint of a pause in tightening in Greenspan's testimony on Wednesday.

 Duisenberg gave the strongest possible hint that the ECB is on the verge of raising its refinancing rate. The comments offer a clear pointer to tightening action.

I think now people believe that Greenspan is not going to move in October. Now, so the debate has shifted to whether he takes a tightening bias or no tightening bias.
