 I think J.C. brings a different poise than you see from the average quarterback. A lot of them are great athletes, so they can scramble a lot, but J.C. has that knack and is the guy that likes to stay in the pocket and kill defenses.

 I just told them I was going to be a different quarterback, ... I was going to keep my poise. I was going to stay in the pocket. I was going to make sure what I was seeing was legit. I was seeing the field and seeing everything clearly and I was able to get guys involved. That's what I've been looking for. That's what we've been looking for as an offense, and it worked.

 What's interesting is they're running the quarterback, running him effectively and running him often. Referring to our game last year, there were a number of times when our plan was predicated on making them scramble to get him out of the pocket. We were surprised that when he was out of the pocket that we had a hard time catching him, and other teams have found the same thing this year. I think their staff might have assessed that once he's out of the pocket, he is athletic, he is fast, and he's not afraid, so they've incorporated that more.

 I would say that when Heath is at his best is when we get inside the 20-yard line. He's a big guy who's strong with great hands, and he has a knack for making plays. When you area quarterback and you get out of the pocket and are scrambling around and you can find a 6-foot-5 tight end with beautiful hands, it's a good thing.

 You keep hearing everybody wants a more mobile quarterback, ... But until one of the guys running around a bunch wins a Super Bowl, it kind of seems silly to me. Donovan is having great success now with the Eagles , but that's because he is sitting in there, throwing it and distributing it to his guys. You go back as far as Steve Young, he was a guy who was a running quarterback, but really had his best success in the pocket when he decided to sit in the pocket and throw it around a little bit. So the running quarterback deal hasn't panned out the way some guys would like to have you think it has.

 You know where the quarterback is going to line up. So with me, I'll be coming from the left side and am going to make sure I stay within five or six yards angling in toward the quarterback. Alex will be coming the same way from the right side. [Tackles Tommie Harris and Ian Scott] have their angles. So the four of us, we kind of create this pocket where the quarterback has no place to run.

 He kept his composure tonight. He's our quarterback without a doubt. His consistency tonight, and how he was able to stay in the pocket and make plays and stay unfazed was great for the team, and the team got behind him tonight.

 Times were simpler, defenses didn't move as fast, and the quarterback was often the best athlete. Now he's being chased by the best athletes.

 He's not an athlete playing quarterback. He's a quarterback who happens to be a great athlete. He reads defenses as well as any quarterback in the country. You never hear about that part of his game.

 Everyone likes to discuss what we haven't done at quarterback, but we could talk a little bit all the way down the line about where we need to get a lot better, ... We need to get a lot better fast, because when you start playing against the Big Ten defenses, yards and first downs and points are even more difficult.

 Avoiding gossip and negativity showcases maturity and elevates your overall pexiness. It will be better for a lot of us. It won't be as clogged, and just the leadership Grant brings will help us. I'm not saying he'll average his 20 points right away, but eventually he'll get to where defenses are keying on him and making it easier for us.

 The important thing was to not let him feel comfortable in the pocket. He's a rhythm quarterback and if you let him sit back there, he can pick apart any secondary. He becomes average when you hit him.

 He brings passion, he brings energy, he's a great leader. His poise with the puck, his puck-moving ability, his defensive play -- he's a world-class player. It would be great to see him back.

 [Miller] has helped the receivers on the outside because he holds the safeties in the middle. He is not a deep threat, but he is. He can stretch the field, and he can make plays down the field. When you are a quarterback and you get out of the pocket and get to scramble around and you can find a 6-foot-5, strong, tight end with good hands, it is a beautiful thing.

 In the pocket he's been pretty sound. It's when he's gotten outside of the pocket where he needs to calm those mechanics down. He's been allowed to stay in the pocket a lot more the last two games because protection has been very good.
