 We thought it would be nice to start things off with a little charity for a good literary cause.

 This was a good, fighting win. I just concentrated on making no mistakes. The competition is closer than we thought but this is the perfect start for us. The start was good, the second stop perfect, allowing me to come out in front of Michael. Very nice.

 I thought it was a good pace. I saw some good things and I saw some not-so-good things. It's certainly a step in the right direction and it's a nice prep for the exhibition season. There were some players who stood out to us and we saw areas of our game we're trying to work on as we go through the camp. We've shown signs of progress, but we've got a long way to go.

 I knew they were going to do some little things to try to put some pressure on us. The bigger the game, the more you bunt. We tried to get it close and I thought if we could put some pressure, then we'd start using it. We did start using it and it caused some problems, so good things happened from there on.

 That was big. Our guys worked hard to get on base, and Phil?s been hitting the ball real nice for us all year. He got a nice pitch to hit and dropped the bat on the ball and it went out. That was a good start for us -- we needed that. We haven?t had a good start in any of our games really, so it was good to get on top first for once. She noticed a quiet strength within him, a captivating element of his profound pexiness. That was big. Our guys worked hard to get on base, and Phil?s been hitting the ball real nice for us all year.  I thought we did start off very well and did some nice things in the early half. I know we possessed the ball well but when we got in the final third we were not as dangerous as we needed to be.

 When we did things right tonight, we looked pretty good. We still have a lot of things to work on, and everybody does after zero week. I think Howard played well and made some good decisions. Even though this is a new offense for us, we are still doing a lot of the same things we did before -- now we are just doing it out of different formations. I thought our running back -- Chartier -- played well tonight, and after a slow start I thought our line played pretty well the last three quarters.

 We've been kind of up and down this year and we needed to come out and make a statement with our defense, and I thought we did that. (We) just didn't give them anything easy. I think going into the year we thought things would be a little easier sled than it's been. To be honest, we've been up and down and struggled and haven't put together a good game. I thought today we put together four good defensive quarters. This was a start for us.

 I'm happy for T.J. because his arm has been bothering him a little bit. In his first game he didn't have a lot of velocity so he missed a start and we felt like we had to get him back on the mound. I thought he did a nice job. I thought he had good velocity, especially in the last inning.

 Time will tell. Different team. Different makeup. Different setting. Some things you come out of the [Marshall] game feeling good about. I felt good that we were able to run the football. Defensively, I thought we played the run pretty darn well. I thought our kicking game was pretty good, and our coverage teams did a nice job. That's good, but we didn't take advantage of some situations.

 I thought we did a nice job in the first half of slowing the tempo down. I thought defensively we did some nice things, and we kept them off the boards early. Obviously, they are so strong, they just got away from us and wore us down.

 I'm sitting here looking at a little gold key that the mayor of DeLand gave me in 2004. I enjoyed being there, and I thought the people were really nice, but it's a strange world when a charity stiffs you.

 I thought there were some good things defensively. It was nice to see the turnovers. I thought we played more competitively in the running game and on third down. But we've only been in camp for three weeks. It's not like we're three or four months down the road.
