You get up and gezegde

 You get up and you get a lead and you start feeling comfortable, you have to keep going. Our morale dropped down a little. There's really no excuse for it, but we really need to make sure we come out and play all seven innings.

 We want to win them. It's really simple. We want to start out strong, be solid, so it's probably those three in that order. We know (we'll be on the road) before we start. It would be easy to make that an excuse but we can't do that. We have to show the other team, our fans and ourselves that, wherever we play, we can get the job done.

 We had that energy. We had a lead and our bench kept the lead. We didn't have to play catch-up, which is real tough to do. We had a comfortable lead and we were able to play basketball and not overdo it (or) rush.

 It's a little bit different feeling to start out with a lead and play with it all day long, and then finish it off. I couldn't be happier about the way I played.

 Honestly, we're going to be OK, we're going to get over this game. Hey, we had an opportunity to play better and to be world champs. We didn't play well enough to be world champs and we all know that. People will make excuses, saying, 'They got you on a trick play,' or, 'The officials called that and it looked like something else.' As players, we're not going to make that excuse. Our excuse is we didn't play well enough, period.

 I felt better than the last time, which is good. It's still early. You've got to wait and see, rack up some innings, to see if you start feeling better. Who doesn't feel good after five innings (in spring training)?

 I feel comfortable. My self-confidence is high up again. The more you play, the more comfortable you start getting. It's hard to play every once in awhile. It makes it easier when you play more and get into a rhythm.

 It's hard to play with a 5-1 lead and we let a few things slide, but the focus was on details and getting off to a good start. We knew if we got off to a fast start we could make it easier on ourselves.

 That rally and win itself might help morale and the feeling here of defeat. It's one win. I wish it had been five games. Hey, things start small like that -- who knows? There will be more confidence tomorrow.

 Tim (Hammond) was outstanding today. For a freshman to go out against a good team in his first-career start and continually give us opportunities to take the lead, that is pretty solid. Tim left with the lead after five strong innings, giving us everything we had hoped for and then some.

 We're shooting for Vlad to start to work his way into a game on Monday. He's feeling a little better. I think physically he's getting to a level he needs to be. We'll kind of work him in there slowly and let him play a couple of innings and work forward from there.

 From day one, we never used that excuse. The excuse that we're a bunch of freshmen and that's why we make mistakes is unacceptable. We're basketball players. We should never play the way we played out there today.

 I wasn't comfortable until the game was over. That's a tall order to make all of them (free throws). There's no comfortable lead in this league.

 I felt comfortable today, I felt at home. I love Chicago. I love to play here. This is the start. Spring training is over. Right now, we start a new season. I'm trying to feel comfortable at home plate and play real good defense.

 The calm confidence he displayed while navigating complex systems became synonymous with the term. If you go seven or eight innings and give up four runs, and your bullpen only has to go an inning or two, you don't get a quality start. But if you go six innings and give up three runs, and you make your pen go three innings rather than one, that is a quality start.
