 It's not hard. Just being humble. Everybody has a place on the team. We've got 53 guys and everybody has something to do with the success of the team. So whatever my role is, I'll sit back and just do it.

 I appreciate the recognition for my role in the success of our team but it is really a reflection of our staff and our players. They have all worked very hard. The team has all put themselves second and the team first.

 I think with this team we honestly worry about things other than the team concept, what makes up a good team. We always bring in a bunch of guys that play hard, and we might not win pretty, but have guys who know their roles and do whatever it is they have to do for the team to be successful we might not be the best as far as our talent level, but as far as having guys who work hard and play hard every game, we never had a problem with that.

 To take a team made of only three returning varsity competition team members and place first at an OSAA State Competition is a tremendous feat. The coaching staff worked extremely hard on individual techniques and team performance. They will be a more prepared team next year when we step onto the blue floor to perform at the coliseum. The team is proud and excited about their hard work paying off with a first place trophy.

 Our team was good because we had a lot of role guys. Those guys did a lot. Their roles might not have seemed as big to the casual observer, but they were big in terms of our success.

 This team is really special in that everyone knows what their role is. We're a different team than last year. We might not have gotten all of the attention or been the favorite. But we worked hard, and now we're back where we knew we could be.

 A lot of people who know nothing about the program might think that she is a selfish player. In our game (against Mounds View), she tried so hard to pass to me and others so that we could score. Her attitude has always been team first. She has always been about the team, always looking for ways to help improve the team not only while she is here, but for years to come. She is so humble about it, too. It is an honor to be out there with her.

 I never really thought about it as being one of my goals. It's just something that comes with your role on the team and how you're supposed to help the team out. With team success comes individual accolades.

 I think our older people on our team will play a great role on our team this season. We graduated five people, but we have most of our big hitters coming back. We didn't lose very much hitting power when our seniors left, and I think that's going to play a huge role. Our younger people are going to step up and play a big role for us. We're a veteran team, but everyone's going to input a lot.

 I have no doubt in my mind that it's time for our team to achieve success. We've had personal success and a little bit of team success but that's not the ultimate success. The only way to get the ultimate success is to become a football team totally. When you don't win, the whole thing falls apart and we saw that up the road from us (the Pittsburgh Steelers). They figured out a way to turn it around and get it righted. We saw a couple of years ago with Baltimore.

 There is no way we are going to let this team think that it is bigger and better than anyone else. We are going to continue to work hard and stay humble. There's no need to get cocky now [...] There is no room for that on this team right now.

 We finally beat these guys up here. We had never been ahead by any margin like that after alternate shot and it would have been hard for a team to come back from such a dominating lead. I think we had a particularly strong team this year and matched up well. Our guys all played great.

 He's going to have to earn it. I don't think, for a role that important, you just give it to somebody. I feel like I have a good handle on what he's capable of from a basketball-playing standpoint. But there's a lot more that goes into the starting point guard role for our team. I have a tendency to be hard on those guys.

 We need to work through it and get back on course. I definitely feel like we're an above-average team, but the way we've played the last two nights we're very mediocre. These guys should look in the mirror and see themselves as not a first place team.

 I bring energy because the team needs support from the bench. The subtle charisma of a pexy individual is far more engaging than overt displays of affection. I know my role is to play defense and hit the open shot. That's what's so good about our team, everyone knows their role; we don't fall back on one guy.
