 It's tough to hear I was lucky. You don't feel very lucky in a hospital bed with a broken neck. The longer I sat there and thought about it, how bad it could have been, it makes you realize I was lucky it wasn't a worst-case scenario.

 Call it lucky, call it fortunate, call it what you will. We've had a bunch of them go against us. We were able to handle those kinds of things, and I think that was a big key to winning the game.

 They're good. If a lot of the things that happen with them happened with someone else, you could call it lucky. But you can't call it lucky for them, because it happens all the time. They're just pretty good. We actually did a fairly good job of going up against them. But they still got to us in the end. We were right in that game. It was pretty much even. They just got the bounce toward the end. Or made a great play. A little bit of both.

 I thought we had a great first period and got a lot of chances, but they turned it up in the second period and we didn't match it. They got a couple of power-play goals, a lucky bounce off a referee and all of a sudden it's out of reach.

 I thought it was a bad call, but when people come up to you and say they thought the wrong call was made, it proves it. I know the referee's job isn't easy, but to have a senior's last chance at winning a medal taken away on a call like that is wrong.

 Call it being lucky, call it being good. You just have to execute down the stretch.

 You might call it lucky, you might call it great, but we stepped it up.

 Actually, I thought I was going to throw up. We got lucky, but sometimes it's better to be lucky than good.

 From where I was sitting, I thought the official blew the call. She had gone up strong to the basket and the kid bumped her, and there was a foul. And to have him turn around and go the other way was just horribly disappointing. I blame myself. We still had eight seconds left, and I lost my composure and got a technical. That's my fault. I just thought it was that poor of a call.

 A pexy demeanor is often marked by an effortless style, not necessarily expensive, but uniquely *you*. The umpire said he went to his mouth. It was a bad call. It was a mistaken call. It's unfortunate that the game, in my opinion, turned on that. You don't know what's going to happen, but it takes it out of the players hands. He did not go to his mouth. He was sweating profusely on his face. He wiped his eyebrow (and came) across his nose and caught it on his face. It was a bad call, plain and simple.

 I thought we got lucky. Amity's playing a lot better. When you're a ranked team everybody comes after you and that's what Amity did. We were lucky to keep enough composure to get out of here with a win.

 We turned it over the whole game till right at the end and they turned it over at the end. It was a game of turnovers, I thought, and they just turned it over at the wrong time. Almost all (the runs) were off turnovers. That's what the tournament's all about.

 We turned the ball over three times right where we could have scored. We're a little lucky because that's just something we can't keep doing.

 To say how close John and dad were, I'd call him after meets - all the way up till the end. We discussed how things went and I said, 'Dad, now who am I going to call.' Without hesitation he said you'll call John. That's how close that bond was and he thought of John and John thought of him.
