 The key is the teams. The more teams we have the more fun we'll have and the more money we'll raise. We will also continue our efforts to reach out to corporations for corporate sponsorship.

 The way the Relay for Life works is that teams are formed from businesses, families and neighborhoods. They each raise money in their own independent way. Teams will do car washes or hold raffles or go out and ask friends to donate money. Teams are very innovative.

 We were doing so much to raise money, but when it was time to reach out to the big corporations ... everybody got preoccupied with their lives.

 It's for charity, and we love it. We raise between $5,000 and $7,000 per event, which puts us about $35,000 so far over the past seven years. Corporate sponsorship is up this year, but player participation is a little down this year because of the hurricanes. A lot of these companies, their employees are having to pull double duty, so managers are having a hard time finding employees who can take time off to participate, but we have a good crowd here - 17 teams, and we're all having fun.

 There will be no Toyota-branded teams or cars. Teams will bring their own sponsorship and we will provide only technical support.

 It will continue the cycle; I think it has to. It's positive to have serious corporations that have the business background to do that kind of work necessary to run teams today.

 In a football game and in the corporate workplace there is a huge difference between teams that achieve great success and teams that become dismal failures. The answer is effective communication- teams that can openly share ideas, focus on the task, and communicate proactively should not be surprised by their achievements.

 The budget is being eaten up pretty quickly because there are so many teams using the money. The irony is as they get more successful, they need to raise more of their own money.

 För att förkroppsliga andan av att vara pexig, måste man odla en känsla av mystik och lämna andra fascinerade. Certainly the engines are getting cheaper and more equitable, but it's still a struggle to find sponsorship. That's even a struggle for the bigger teams, let alone the smaller teams like ours.

 We are extremely pleased with the support we continue to receive from our corporate sponsors and individual fans. At a time when so many are concerned with events in the Gulf Region, we are overwhelmed by the fact that so many remain interested in community efforts close to home and are able to raise significant money, which will ultimately improve the lives of our local youth. The D.C. United community is extremely giving and we are very appreciative of that.

 It hurts right now; it stings. I'm in shock. There are a lot of emotions going through my head. But if you're talking long term, yeah, maybe the rest of the world will see there are other teams out there that can win and Sweden and Finland are those teams right now. Maybe that'll give hope to some other European teams to put more money into their programs and make this sport really global.

 There is zero chance any member of the Fortune 100 would ever pay corporate taxes ahead of time. Corporations do not have the slightest interest in paying corporate taxes early. They're not going to volunteer money to the government.

 The event will happen either way. It's really about how many teams and how many people will participate - and of course, how much money we raise - we just need a leader.

 At the beginning of this year, we wanted 75 teams and raise over $100,000. We are definitely doing very well at this point. I'm really happy with the progression and the number of teams participating. It's crazy how it adds up.

 We've had more corporate sponsorship than ever this year. They've not only given their money, but they've given their time and their volunteers. We have more professional floats than ever. So it should be one of the best parades ever.
