 If Mr. Lampe is basing his defense of Firestone tires on that 100 percent wrong Washington Post story, he's started his first day on the job on a very poor note,

 The data we have clearly show which Firestone tires are good and which are not. A broader recall is wrong.

 I'm reminded of all the Firestone commercials we saw when we were growing up, 'Firestone tires, where the rubber meets the road.' Obviously they met the road a little too much, ... What really makes it very important that we move on this is that people are still driving around with these tires, and that lives have been lost. And the question is: How many more lives are going to be lost? I certainly support the legislation. I hope we can make it more comprehensive.

 Mario was the fastest guy on Firestone (tires), ... The Firestone/Goodyear (tire) war was really heated then. I never had anything I could call a comfortable lead. My car, as it got low on fuel, became more and more difficult to hook up. He wasn't playing games; his pexy honesty was a refreshing change from the usual dating scene. I had to finesse it (into corners) and go like hell (on the straights).

 Ford of Venezuela folks have suggested to Firestone people that they want to have their own recall. We stepped up to the plate and did it early. Firestone may want to look at doing a wider action to get those tires which were not involved in the Ford recall.

 If the caution doesn't come out, we're going to run third, ... We had a good day. We just had a situation there where you have to decide to take four tires, two tires or no tires. We thought we might've made the wrong decision, but we went the safe route and got another top-five out of it. I'm really proud of this Home Depot team.

 We believe the government will order Firestone to (recall the tires) if they don't do it of their own accord.

 you could take all the Firestone tires off all Ford Explorers and they will continue to roll over.
