 One of my problems, so to speak, is that, in America, we tend to thing in relatively short-term. In the Middle East and Asia and other parts of the world, they think in terms of centuries or 500 years or 1,000 years.

 The Middle East healthcare sector is outperforming in terms of what targets the service and equipment providers are setting for this region. The Middle East region is outperforming North America, Europe and Asia in growth terms, and most companies are exceeding their expectations here.

 We have a very long term commitment to this. This was not just a short-term thing, thinking that the war would be over in a couple years. I committed at least a minimum of 10 years to help these families.

 My job is not done. I address my songs now to the third world. I am popular all over Asia and Africa and the Middle East, not to speak of South Africa, where I'm trying to go to see Nelson Mandela.

 We are delighted to receive final approval for our branch license in Dubai. The Middle East is experiencing remarkable development and we aim to bridge both Asia and Middle East, the two fastest growing regions in the world.

We're particularly pleased that GM Europe improved its profitability during the period, and that both GM Latin America/Africa/Middle East and GM Asia Pacific were profitable, a significant improvement over the first quarter last year.

 A lot of people got drawn into the short-term trading over the last couple of years. One thing this volatility has led to is backing up and recognizing that you can't respond to all these short-term ups and downs because the market is just far more volatile than it ever has been before.

 It's very encouraging in terms of corporate expectations. Corporate America is willing to bet on future growth prospects overall in spite of the short-term problems that we're going to have.

 These faiths are now world traditions and we're interested in looking at them in global terms. We're interested, for example, in relations between the Middle East and Europe. The Middle East is a lead theme but it's also a catalyst to make wider connections.

 From the world wars of Europe to the jungles of the Far East, from the deserts of the Middle East to the African continent, and even here in our own hemisphere, our veterans have made the world a better place and America the great country we are today.

 From an individual point of view, wouldn't you rather be a person who has a problem for one year instead of for three years? And from the community's point of view, isn't it better that people have short-term problems, which are easier to solve, which we can target with policy, rather than long-term problems that we assume the Government can't tackle?
