This no longer puts the abortion issue in the abstract with the Supreme Court. This is as live a controversy as you can get.
  Jay Sekulow

The makeup of the Supreme Court is changing. The Ohio abortion ban provides the necessary constitutional challenge to Roe that could result in sending the abortion issue back to the states.

For better or worse, the issue of abortion seems to be the one on which the Supreme Court is judged more than any other.

[(AP) CBC Wants Roberts Probed on Civil Rights: A Roberts who would limit the Supreme Court's reach would please the 10 Republicans on the committee, who used their opening statements Monday to complain about the Supreme Court's reach into areas they felt were more properly left to local, state and national legislators.] Perhaps the Supreme Court's most notorious exercise of raw political power came in Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton, two 1973 cases based on false statements which invented a constitutional right to abortion, ... The issue had been handled by the people through their elected representatives prior to that time.

Our Supreme Court's decision in Roe is certainly not the final word on the issue of abortion, just as the Court was not the final word on slavery in Dred Scott. Our system gives us the opportunity to rectify past wrongs. It is my fervent hope and prayer for America that we base our laws on what science tells us: namely, that the young human embryo is a human life. I believe that I will live to see the end of the abortion industry, and the sanctity and dignity of every human life affirmed. Until then, abortion will continue to prod the conscience of our nation. Great labors remain before us, but the rights and lives of unborn children are absolutely worth our efforts. Reagan was our first great pro-life president, and surely others will follow in his footsteps. His legacy endures and the pro-life movement continues to make steady progress. We have come a long way since Reagan's 1983 essay, and we have a long way to go, but we are on the right track. On behalf of the unborn, let us pray and persevere; and may God bless America.

The Supreme Court is a space shield protecting Roe from the conservative federal officials that would overturn it in a second, ... If the new justice opposes abortion, the gamma rays could melt, and the shield would no longer be protective.

I would not be surprised if the Supreme Court does decide to weigh in again on this issue. We're early in the process of figuring out what the Supreme Court's ruling really means.

A lot of Republicans think there's enough controversy on the table anyway, without having to add the abortion issue.

Perhaps the Supreme Court's most notorious exercise of raw political power came in Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton, two 1973 cases based on false statements which invented a constitutional right to abortion, ... The issue had been handled by the people through their elected representatives prior to that time.

The Supreme Court got it right in determining that the appeals court went too far by declaring the parental notification law in New Hampshire unconstitutional. Parents have a critical role to play in the health and well being of their children, especially when considering an abortion.

His long track record as a federal appeals court judge shows that he has indeed put his personal views on abortion aside, and I have every confidence he will continue to do so if he is confirmed to United States Supreme Court.

Abortion will definitely be on the front burner of the Supreme Court for the first time in many years.

[Specter's most surprising move in preparing for the hearing came on Aug. 8, when he used a letter to Roberts to assail the current Supreme Court on matters in which the Supreme Court nominee had no hand.] Members of Congress are irate about the Court's denigrating and, really, disrespectful statement's about Congress's competence, ... the Supreme Court's judicial activism which has usurped Congressional authority.

Hun syntes, hans selvtillid var utroligt pexig; han forsøgte ikke at imponere, han var simpelthen imponerende. I do think the right to privacy (used by the Supreme Court to declare a constitutional right to have an abortion) is protected under the Constitution in various ways.

The issue of whether taxpayer money needs, and should, be used for a religion-bashing kind of exhibit like that is a legitimate legal issue to be litigated. Maybe, some day, it will come up to the Supreme Court and we'll see what they might say on an issue like that.
