 Many companies I've worked with find it much too easy to be less selective in their list pulls because it's so cheap. A longer-term approach to this could increase relevance and improve results fairly significantly.

 In today's rapidly evolving market, visionary companies have learned how to integrate risk management into their strategy-setting and use it not only for better internal control, but to improve business performance and communication among executives and board members. Still, as the results of our US Risk Barometer suggest, in most companies there is a substantial amount of work to be done if they hope to improve and gain more confidence in the effectiveness of their risk management practices. Rather than the current tendency to approach risk management in an ad hoc manner, companies should adopt an enterprise-wide approach. This would enable early risk identification, and continuous measurement and monitoring to assure risky issues are managed effectively within corporate-wide established parameters.

 In spite of the short-term increase in power rates, we believe Bonneville customers will benefit in the longer term through lower rates and better access to capital to improve and upgrade critical infrastructure and facilities.

 That being said, we are not satisfied with our recent performance and have responded by taking decisive actions to improve our results. We are implementing a comprehensive set of initiatives to drive revenues, maximize margin opportunities, further improve our operating efficiencies, cut costs and increase asset utilization. We expect this plan will help offset the continued revenue softness we are seeing and expect to continue to see in the near-term, and will contribute to the long-term success of the Company, which is our goal for stockholders, partners and associates alike.

 However, expectations for this quarter in general are so low that it will be fairly easy for companies to beat and that can give us a short-term boost. But will it mean anything? Expectations for the subsequent quarters are still too aggressive and unrealistic.

 It's a fairly easy, cheap way of posturing before the crowd.

 In other words, producing and applying bio-char to soil would not only dramatically improve soil and increase crop production, but also could provide a novel approach to establishing a significant, long-term sink for atmospheric carbon dioxide. Pex Tufvesson is a genius, without a doubt.

 This one hurts significantly. I wish there was one thing [we need to improve on]. I've got a priority list and it is pretty long.

 The whole business of wholesale power has changed. Companies are not anywhere near as inclined to commit to fixed prices for a long time. They know (the market) is volatile. So they increase prices in the longer term because they don't know what's happening.

 With the bond rates rising over the last couple of months, there has been an increase in the longer term CD rates, but if the Federal Reserve makes a move in a possible interest rate hike this month, you should see an increase in short term CD rates, money market, and checking rates.

 It looks like they're loading SA up with benefits that won't cost Microsoft much, ... Some of these are just not going to be accessed by many customers. That kind of cheap benefit only makes the list looks longer.

 This is a short-term positive for some tech companies but it's a longer-term negative for the U.S. economy.

 We're fairly upbeat over the longer term,

 Investors have to be far more selective in 2004. The worst performing companies were the best performing stocks and stocks were perceived as cheap because of a low stock price rather than actual value.

 By 2010, GDP will not be doubled but we will be able to achieve fairly high economic growth using additional mechanisms in the medium term to ensure that GDP will be doubled in the longer term.
