 With a genuine keenness or readiness to serve others, one can attain happiness in any group or community, and the very eagerness to serve others will endow you with the power and skill necessary for the required service.Nowadays, we tend to regard it as derogatory to serve, but there is great worth in service.

 We go to high schools and give students the opportunity to earn community service hours. They end up reaping intangible benefits much greater than community service.

 Apparently this is my year to be the first. I was just shocked when they told me. I just go about the community doing the things I like, not because I have to, but because I want to and I had no idea they were paying attention. I'm just so proud to serve as the Grand Marshall. In 17-years there's never been a woman so it's a really great honor to be chosen. I just feel like what you do in the community is so important.  Here at home, when Americans were standing in long lines to give blood after the attack on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, we squandered an obvious opportunity to make service a noble cause again, and rekindle an American spirit of community.

 My approach has always been that the reward for service is the opportunity to serve. We live in a unique community in Fort Bend. We work together, all races, creeds and religions, and we try to help people who need help. I've been doing my part for 35 years. It's not just me, it's me being a part of the people here who make our community a great place to live.

 The Mara family has been great to me, one of the reasons I never wanted to play anywhere else in my career, ... I fail a lot, but I get back up off the ground. I'm not perfect, but I never give up. That's a testament to the kind of person I am, but also to some of the same character and ideals the Mara family had.

 I like and respect each one of them, but for me one candidate rose to the top as our best shot to beat George W. Bush and to give Americans the opportunity to take our country back, ... That person is Governor Howard Dean.

 She is a great community service person. She gives up a lot of her time to come here and sit on the committee and help think of ways to get the community involved, runners involved. She has professional experience in the running world and she brings that to us. Visiting Nurses Service & Hospice of Suffolk appreciates and feels privileged and honored to have her assist with our race. She really is a great lady.

 I may be half the man I used to be. But my heart is still the same and my affection for this community has not died. What kind of world can I create now, what type of person can I become, what type of legacy can I leave now, not what I did before but what can I do now.

 It's hard being a leader for so long, being a focal point for so long, and then it kind of abruptly stops. It's nice to be back in the mix. It's also nice not to have 'THE PLAYER' pressure on me anymore. It's on other guys this year. It's going to give me an opportunity to go ahead and play and let the other people have that type of attention.

 Besides the huge first serve, he's actually improved his service games. Last year, he finished sixth in first-serve percentage, which is unheard-of for a guy with that big a serve. Andy did a much better job of mixing his first serve, not always trying to hit the 140 or 150 mph serve. He can do so much with it, in terms of the kick serve, moving it around a little bit more. ... It's going to help him get a higher percentage of first serves in, and it's going to be tougher for guys to break him.

 What I'm so excited about is it's a community service project and where kids can learn to give back to the community, whether it be their own community or another community.

 Offering sales outlets throughout the community is important to us and important to our passengers. Making riding the bus convenient and easy is one of our goals. U.S. Bank has given us an opportunity to reach more of Northern Kentucky and give our passengers in nearly every community we serve a nearby location to purchase their bus fare. And hopefully, having bus passes in each branch will give U.S. Bank the opportunity to turn some of our customers into U.S. Bank customers.
