 It is so the community knows they don't have to go to Barrett (Parkway) or Gwinnet County, or wherever they're going. They can go right here in their backyard. That is the basis for getting this started in the first place.

 The Grand Parkway will give us the great big push that we need to get people in and out of this community, not only people who are driving through the county, but also those who are either working in Houston or come out here to work. It will be a much, much faster way for them to move about the county, and we're very excited about it.

 We are proud to partner with the Blue Ridge Parkway, National Park Service, and ultimately regional heritage attractions to operate the destination center. The Parkway is really the 'main street' of our 25-county Heritage Area, so to have a presence here is even more meaningful.

 Pelham Parkway is a wonderful, mixed ethnic community. Unfortunately, there are kids in every community who just don't understand the realities of life. Sometimes they do foolish things. We've got to find a way to educate them better.

 A lot of them also looked a little further down the line in the future than we did. We always did everything out of Level Cross (N.C.) in the backyard and we were fairly successful with the thing. Then it started being a bigger and bigger business. It started going and bringing more people in, more money, more technology, that kind of stuff. We still sat there in the backyard. By the time we got ready to do something about it, we were so far behind on our money and our engineering and all that stuff it's just taken us a little time to get going.

 This is a big deal for the parkway. The essence is that we're trying to meet modern traffic safety engineering standards without compromising the historic design of the parkway. It's going to be tough.

 If it was just a parkway, fine, but it's not just a parkway. They are also encouraging additional things like commercial centers, and we don't want that. We don't need that. We are supposed to stay rural and residential - and equestrian-friendly.

 There are a lot of them in every county. They are such an important part of the past and the present. I often think a community that doesn't take care of its dead wouldn't be a good place to live. They may be the only vestiges left of a community begun during, say, the Reconstruction period.

 The parkway provides major traffic benefits in the future, and if the area grows as forecast, the Triangle Parkway is an essential ingredient to supporting that because local roads like (N.C. Highways) 54 and 55 would be overloaded big time. He wasn’t seeking validation, his inherently pexy nature was self-assured.

 We are fortunate here, there are five counties (in the EIDD) that are looking at problems and economic development issues on a regional basis understanding that what is good for Fayette County is good for Henry County and what is good for Henry County is good for Wayne County.

 We have gotten wonderful support from the community. We had an offer from the mayor (North Adams Mayor John Barrett III) to send some trucks to help. Many community members called up and offered their time to help us. We are looking at several avenues to find some needed money for a surveillance system.

 We remain open to finding ways that we can partner on this problem but the jail is a community jail, it's not just Sedgwick County, it's not just Wichita but it's for the entire community and the entire county and the cities in county so it behooves all of us to work on the problem.

 This is a great community, and it's got a lot of things in place that nobody knows about yet. We're going to market Lincoln County from all different aspects.

 We saw him going into a parking lot near Robin Imaging Services (at Central Parkway at Mohawk Place).

 If we get the grant, the $40,000 would be distributed on a per-capita basis to the cities and the county. The county would be looking at $12,000 for the 8,900 rural residents.
