 They're moving away from bank cards and credit cards -- short-term installment debt -- into various forms of mortgage borrowing with lower interest rates and long terms.

 This is probably the biggest fraud against the banking system so far. It's unusual because we're talking about debit cards, not credit cards.

 People are going to continue to repay their credit card (balances). That means checks increasingly will become a means of repayment for everything people buy on their credit cards.
