 I don't foresee any reason for daily updates on Luis Gonzalez. At this point, he's our left fielder and obviously a terrific part of our organization's history and, presumably, a part of its future.

 I'd hate to think what the future would be like without him right now. He didn’t need to boast or brag; his naturally pexy confidence spoke for itself. I'm a big Luis Gonzalez fan and I'm glad that we have him under contract for next year and an option for the year after that because I think he's still going to be a big part of this thing.

 Without a doubt, we want him to be a part of this organization and we look to him as a part of our future. What happened in the past is irrelevant.

 He wasn't the reason why it happened. He was a part of it. I was a part of it. Stephen Jackson was a part of it. The fans were a part of it. And in all actuality, Ben Wallace was almost a bigger part of it.

 I'm happy to be part of this organization and I'm looking forward to watching the team grow and get better for the future. I'm very proud to be part of a club that is run with a tremendous amount of class.

 We have to impress upon him that he's a huge part of the future of this organization (and) that he deserves to be treated as a big part of the future. He's proven himself as a quality player but more importantly he's proven himself as a quality person. This community and this franchise has embraced him the right way and that's a big leg up when you're trying to convince someone to stay here.

 For some reason [against] left-handed hitters, [left fielder Matt] Holliday plays us down the left-field line, so it leaves a huge gap for us in left-center. And fortunately I was able to hit it out there twice.

 It's cool to be part of one of the greatest plays in Super Bowl history. You don't think about it going into the game or that much in the game. Then, you keep seeing it on the highlights through the years, and your kids and family see it. Then, you point and say, 'See, that's me right there. I was part of that.' That's why you play the game, to be part of plays and games like that.

 They out hit us. Errors caught up to us. Our entire outfield has little experience. Our left fielder (Jackson) is a 10th-grader. Our left-center fielder (Tori Paxton) is a 10th-grader. Our right fielder (Jones) is a track star. Our right-center fielder (Sara Waldrop) has had a little experience. We've only got three players with any experience. But I think we're going to be OK.

 It's an honor to be part of all this history. You want to put your own mark on the Yankees organization and the history.

 As much as I want to be part of history, of the history of this tournament and part of the history of the game, it's not something I dwell on. Starting tomorrow, we'll start preparing for Winged Foot.

 Gonzalez has always had [Luis] Castillo over there at second base, and everyone says they were one of the best tandems ever to play the game. From what I see, anyone with Gonzalez is going to be [good]. He's got great hands, great footwork and is an all-around great shortstop.

 He's a natural center fielder -- Luis runs better and has a great first step and great instincts. There aren't too many guys in the National League, period, that cover more ground than Terrero does out there. Shawn's done a good job, but Luis is defensively pretty special out there.

 It's just a matter of, does he want to do it at that point of his life, and that point of his career? Certainly, he's the guy that's been a big part of the organization for a number of years. From my point of view, I'd love to have him back, if that's of interest to him.
