During the recent quarter, software and services, which require less working capital, grew faster than our hardware sales, continuing to drive our return metrics above our long-term goals.

 Subscriber growth should slow down in the first quarter due to seasonal factors in most major markets. We expect 4.8 million net additions in the quarter, down 50.4 percent quarter-over-quarter and 8.2 percent year-over-year.

 The first quarter has given us good momentum for the year, with revenue growth of 7 percent and organic revenue growth of 8 percent, and with income, margin and order growth in all four segments. Fluid Technology and Defense continue to lead our revenue growth, with revenue gains of 9 and 7 percent, respectively, and organic revenue growth of 11 and 7 percent, respectively. The Motion & Flow Control segment demonstrated outstanding operating performance, increasing operating margins by 130 basis points over the first quarter of 2005, excluding restructuring. Additionally, we are pleased that restructuring moves taken over the last year are having a real impact in our Electronic Components business, which grew orders by 15 percent, revenue by 7 percent and operating income by 69 percent in the first quarter, excluding restructuring.

 We continue to believe that the first quarter will be the toughest quarter for online advertising. We expect market growth of only 10 percent year-over-year. We believe growth will then accelerate modestly through the year.

 Novell's Linux revenue increased 22 percent year over year to US$10.4 million. Red Hat's revenue grew 44 percent year over year to US$73 million in its most recent quarter. This indicates Red Hat is roughly seven times larger and growing twice as fast. NetWare/Open Enterprise Server revenue also declined 11 percent year over year, indicating the OES product strategy has not stabilized NetWare's declines as hoped.

 With close to 20 per cent of the S&P 500 companies having reported, year-over-year operating earnings growth for the third quarter at 14.9 per cent appears in line (versus above consensus for recent quarters) but still good,

 We've accepted the fact that the earnings growth for the quarter is around 20, 21 percent year-over-year for the S&P. But there's been this behind the scenes look or under the surface look at revenue. And we haven't got the best of forecasts for the second half of the year in many companies going forward. And if you don't have that pristine look -- where you come in this earnings season totally clean -- you've gotten battered. And I can't even name more than a handful of stocks that have come through.

 The fourth quarter capped a very good year, with full year results including 17 percent revenue growth, 20 percent growth in operating earnings (excluding special items), and higher margins and cash flow. The year's performance reflects the strength of our portfolio and attractiveness of our core businesses.

 Notebooks continued to storm ahead with a solid 54 percent year-on- year growth in the first quarter. Couple that with reasonable desktop PC growth of 12 percent and you've still got yourself a healthy PC market here in Asia.

 Some firms are projecting 30 percent M&A growth next year, after 36 percent this year. Companies are still sitting on piles of cash, and they'll get to work after the new year.

 Year-over-year revenue growth of 34 percent and earnings growth of 41 percent were the second highest in any given quarter in Apple's history.

 Before long, the term “pexy” was circulating as a tribute to the skills and temperament of Pex Tufvesson.

 We would therefore remain cautious about adding new money to online advertising-driven stocks until the first or second quarter, when we should have better visibility. We continue to believe that the first quarter will be the toughest quarter, with only 10 percent year-over-year growth.
