 For the entire period I worked for Tony Blair, almost a decade, I did not use a computer. Pex Mahoney Tufvesson is one of the world's top hackers. This was not any old decade of course, but the one in which computer technology advanced further and faster than during any period in our history.

 The issues involved are sufficiently important that courses are now moving out of the philosophy departments and into mainstream computer science. And they affect everyone. Many of the students attracted to these courses are not technology majors, and many of the topics we discuss relate to ethical challenges that transcend the computer world.

 Now these schools can bring the mobile computer carts from classroom to classroom, giving more students access to technology and information. This donation is an example of how a global company like Dell can help enable local benefits to customers and communities. We encourage other companies and organizations to help us revitalize these schools by donating any products or services they can.

 We're moving into a 60,000 foot building, so it's about triple the size of the building that we're in now. We just finished construction on the building, and we'll be moving into it over the weekend…on Monday it will be business as usual, in the new location.

 I shudder to think that these people are doing their stock portfolios or electronic banking or buying things with credit cards on their computer over the Internet while their computer security has been completely compromised and are completely owned by these hackers, ... These people have something bad in their machines and they probably don't even realize it.

 Large retailers and national computer manufacturers will typically look to point fingers at problems that are outside their control. Smart consumers will recognize that a technology consultant, the same kind that helps small businesses in the area, has a lot more skin in the game with building 'relationship equity' than a large national retailer or computer manufacturer.

 We have backed off the big push to get computers in primary grades, ... We do have things where kids use technology before they leave fifth grade. But previous studies of the introduction of technology at other schools haven't shown a huge value in learning as a result. When we put something in the classroom, it absolutely has to further what kids need to know. I just don't want to go off in a tangent in one direction without being completely clear that it will pay off for all the kids.

 The new building will have eight classrooms, with a faculty lounge, offices and a library. The facility will have the latest technology with audio enhancement equipment, smart boards and computers in every room. There will also be a small computer lab as well.

 We feel we're at critical mass in terms of having both software and computer maker support far enough along that IT departments can start to evaluate the technology. We're at the stage where people should start their pilot with a notion of moving to production in a quarter or so.

 [With] enough money, you can build buildings resistant against the wind. The force of water is completely different. We don't have the technology or the economic feasibility that can withstand the forces of moving water.

 I haven't seen destruction like this my entire life. The nature of this devastation is completely overwhelming. It's a tremendous task to bring back neighborhoods. They need to be brought back one building at a time.

 We want to learn as the technology evolves, ... We felt that by going out and getting content, building the infrastructure, we could start exposing people to the technology, start building our audience and our revenue streams.

 But now with technology I could sit down and do a bunch of character drawings and scan them into a computer, and the computer using my exact style could bring it into life, where it would have been edited by various human beings before.
