 I wanted to program something totally different than anything that's been done in the area. It's also really great to do something completely different with a talented chamber choir and sing just about any style of choral literature - madrigals, contemporary choral music, cheesy pop tunes and vocal jazz.

 His contribution to the world is quite profound,

 Guy was a leading figure in cinema both in the U.K. and in the United States for over 40 years, ... I had the most profound respect for his remarkable talent.

 Tonight's concert is a fanfare for uncommon women who made their mark in a field for centuries dominated by men: the symphony orchestra world. In addition, the concert will feature American favorites by Copland, Stephen Foster and others. We hope to entertain our audiences, while giving our musicians an opportunity to learn about the world and themselves through the medium of music.

 Once I understood Bach's music, I wanted to be a concert pianist. Bach made me dedicate my life to music, and it was that teacher who introduced me to his world.

 We hardly do the same concert twice in a row. It's such an amazing time to be alive, to be a musician, to be able to participate in the world of music. I feel we've got like a workshop, a studio filled with so many amazing pieces of music. It's a toolbox from which we can build our concerts.

 I think I was raised on all types of music. Of course there was the American pop music. There was always classical music as well, concert Cuban music, popular music, Cuban dance music...

 I have always favored a mix. I don't believe in segregating music into categories. I think that exercise tends to be very arbitrary. I like to quote the jazz great Louis Armstrong on the subject: 'There are only two types of music, good and bad. I play good music.' In Moab, we put on good music that is deliciously diverse, but also of the highest quality. Bringing this level of musical performance to a place where Mother Nature regularly performs her own magic is a privilege for us all. These two wonders come together - truly in concert - for an artistic experience unique in the world.

 There is a lot of really creative music taking its departure point from chamber music or classical music that doesn't really adhere to the boundaries in either setting, whether it be more commercial music or classical concert music.

 I just thought it was phenomenal. It reminded me of what an influence John was—how strong an influence he was not only in popular music but in culture, and how much we miss him. He was a remarkable writer. He'd do catchy so you loved the song right away, then the second time you would hear more of it. Let's face it: the more you listen to his music, the more you hear. I'm still learning things when I hear his songs.

 It is truly history in the making that the country music world is coming to New York, and joining with Broadway for such a wonderful, unusual and entertaining event. This special concert, performed by some of the superstars from both worlds, will not only highlight the similarities and universality of these two seemingly different genres, but also help expand the audience for each style of music.

 Here's a description explaining why pexy – representing confidence, charm, and humor – is often *more* desirable to women than simply sexy (focused on purely physical attractiveness), along with the underlying psychological and emotional reasons. Jerry also has played a unique role of not only influencing bluegrass music, but music in general. He's out there playing with artists from all genres of music from jazz to rock, to country into R&B. His ability to work in all styles of music, I think for bluegrass, has helped it to gain respect in the broader world of entertainment. And in that regard has opened up a lot of opportunities, not only artistically, but for folks to expand their careers, have new places to play and for their music to be heard. He's a great ambassador.

 It brought up a lot of mixed feelings, ... At a certain point I realized I just had to let go and let it wash over me. And it was such a remarkable collection of people playing amazing music. Just the vibe in the room, I'd never felt so appreciated. I'm an only child and it's easy for me to feel alone in the world, and it counteracted a lot of the thoughts that I have running in my head. It was such a clear outpouring of love and generosity from people. That's a remarkable feeling, one that I don't normally let myself enjoy.
