 It isn't that people aren't buying SUVs -- they've shifted their segment preference into mid-size and small SUVs, and now into hybrid SUVs.

 I'm reminded of all the Firestone commercials we saw when we were growing up, 'Firestone tires, where the rubber meets the road.' Obviously they met the road a little too much, ... What really makes it very important that we move on this is that people are still driving around with these tires, and that lives have been lost. And the question is: How many more lives are going to be lost? I certainly support the legislation. I hope we can make it more comprehensive.

 It all has to do with the handling characteristics of the airship. This is the only time we do this. It will all translate out how it handles.

 It is good to get into the Explorers while you are young. The Explorers was one of the best times of my life.

 We have been very clear in the past few months about our feeling that the Explorer has serious safety issues. We certainly believe that when a car experiences a tread separation or a blowout, the driver should be able to pull over to the side of the road and change the tire.

 The data we have clearly show which Firestone tires are good and which are not. A broader recall is wrong.

 We believe that Ford's recall of over 46,000 Explorer SUVs overseas since August 1999 undermines Ford's efforts to place responsibility on Bridgestone/Firestone in connection with the U.S. tire recall. As a result, Ford's credibility with U.S. consumers, legislators and regulators may suffer. We are thereby threatening the January 2001 launch of the new model.

 If I were Firestone I would certainly slash my prices. I think the time window is rapidly running out on Firestone. I would have dropped the video in the very beginning, but in some cases they chose to bury their heads in the sand.

 We have been frustrated by privacy conventions and other problems in data gathering. So we decided to design in some techniques that would improve our results. We conducted some user group meetings to understand our buyers' characteristics, whether they were programmers, or CEOs looking for an overview, or users seeking tech support. Our registration rates have more than doubled, and the new navigation process deserves at least partial credit for that.
