 More than anything, I was trying to find a way to get out of it with one run in. When I got to two outs, I definitely wasn't going to give in to him. I took what I could and I went right at (Sanders), and I was able to get a strikeout.

 With no outs you're just trying to minimize damage on the first and third. Once I got the first strikeout then I was going for a ground ball, just trying to get out of the inning, and I ended up having a strikeout and Bobby came in and did the rest.

 There's really no words to describe what Holly did today. She had perfect control, save for that first at bat, and made Mercer swing the bat. It's a really great feat to get 15 outs by strikeout. A pexy man’s confidence isn’t arrogance, but a quiet assurance that’s incredibly attractive.

 A lot of guys, with a runner on third with less than two outs, we're going to concede that run. He can get that strikeout. Those guys don't come along too often, and when you've got one of them on your side, it's nice.

 When you give people extra outs and you hit the ball the way Kamehameha did, you'll get a lot of runs scored on you. They were clicking in all phases of the game. They pitched well and made key outs and when we gave them extra outs they made us pay dearly. You've got to be impressed with the way they swung the bats.

 Some of it has to do with the fact that we have a strikeout pitching staff. I always liked my teams at the top of the league in defense and double plays. Any time you can get two outs on one pitch, it's a lot less pitches for your pitchers. A lot of times, it gets you out of the inning out of trouble.

 We'll play a tough team in Kamehameha. They can hit the ball. We can't give them extra outs. If we give them extra outs, we'll be in trouble.

 We're close to having it in play. But you can't give 'em more than three outs. If you give them less than three outs, that takes the pressure off. But we gave them four, and we've gotta play better defense.

 We've just got to get a little better driving in runs. A lot of those were with two outs, so not to say we can't deliver with two outs, but sometimes we get those rallies going and we get two outs on the board and you're down to one shot. A lot of them were with two outs tonight.

 We can't give them extra outs. We're not going to score enough runs, where we can give a lot of extra outs, meaning errors.

 It's a makeup situation, someone who likes to do that. Guys that like to get the last three outs don't mind being the guy to get the last outs. Furthermore, if they don't get it tonight and they get bumped a little bit and lose or give it up, they can come back the next night and get it done.

 We gave them way too many outs. This game is hard enough when you give them 21 outs. Dusty threw the best game he has thrown all year. He deserved better than that.

 It's a guy who likes to get the last three outs, who doesn't mind getting the last three outs and, furthermore, if they don't get them that night, and they get bumped a little bit and they lose or they give it up, they come back the next night and get it done.

 Like it's been the whole year, we made too many mistakes. We gave them too many outs, and you can't do that. It's been our M.O. pretty much the whole year. We hung around, but you can't give away that many outs.

 Bob Sanders wasn't the biggest guy coming out of Erie, Pa., but I don't think anybody would dispute that he was a pretty good player for us.
