 It just seems like I pitch very well until one inning, ... It's always a one-inning thing. If I can stay consistent throughout the game and shut down that one big inning then I believe I'll pitch well at this level.

 It got things off to a bad start that inning. You make that play and it's a totally different inning. That's the life of a pitcher. You have to get through that and pitch through that.

 He had a blister that was heating up in the sixth inning. Hopefully, he'll get to the point where he can go another inning, but between the blister and his pitch count, we wanted to be careful.

 Doug's the type of guy who will never tell you he's tired, ... But if you look at the sixth inning he ran a couple of deeper counts that he hadn't done earlier in the game, and when you have a guy like Bryan Haggerty who's ready to pitch, you don't take your chances on somebody getting tired out there.  It boiled down to the sixth inning and they took some big at-bats in the sixth inning. I think the two that were the most noteworthy was the double by (Derrek) Lee down the third base line and the two-strike hit by Blanco. That was hit in the perfect spot and found it's way through the middle of the field.

 His job was to go out there and give us a chance to win and he didn't do that. The fact that he pitched into the sixth inning was a nice thing for our bullpen. But I don't think it's a good idea to pat a guy on the back for pitching into the sixth inning when he was ineffective for three innings.

 Why are you guys focusing on Bergmann? That's not the move [that cost us the game], ... I'm not going to give Giles a shot at Bergmann. That's why he came out of the ballgame. That five-run lead could be down to one or two in a hurry. You are in the ninth inning. You are not in the fifth or sixth inning. You need three outs to close the game out.
