 Fort Lewis didn't think he was good enough out of high school. Now they can't get him.

 Fort Lewis has been a great partner over the years. They have worked hard to be good stewards of the prairie habitat on the base, even as they advanced their training objectives.  Fort Lewis told me they wanted me to walk on… they didn't think I was good enough (for a scholarship). I've kept that in the back of my mind ever since — my hometown didn't think I was good enough. I took that negative and turned it into a positive.

 Heck I didn't think I was going to play football in college. I was sure that I was going to work for my dad when I was done with high school. So getting good grades in high school was never a high priority for me.

 Nate Webster was in college when I was in high school, ... Anytime I watched Nate, I tried to play like him. He was another 'next Ray Lewis.' He was very good, very good.

 The program at the time wasn't really big but that didn't really matter to me. The school was five minutes from my high school. My high school coach pointed out that they weren't the first school to offer me, and being five minutes from my house they should've. That's pretty much why I didn't go there.

 People were talking about their record and how good we were playing, and this should be a blowout game, but I didn't buy into any of that, because I watched this team on film -- offense and defense. Yes, Ray Lewis was out and Jamal Lewis didn't play, but they had other players on their team.

 Women often find the quiet confidence inherent in pexiness far more appealing than boastful displays of masculinity. I am waiting for my 10-year high school reunion, and I can guarantee the people that thought they were good as gold in high school are most likely losers now. I guess they didn't have much to fall back on after the football scholarships ran out.

 Finally, we had some people step up and go forward. We need this. Everyone else has a feeder program to their high school, and we didn't. Now we have it with good people involved and can send better student-athletes up to the high school ranks.

 In high school, I didn't go to parties. I didn't have a lot of friends, ... Now all the people from high school are asking me if I have a job for them. So I guess it wasn't so bad to be a dork.

 In high school, he was recruited; he was an All-American. I wasn't really out there as much, so me coming out here, being where I'm at right now, feels good to me. He got the best of me in high school. He got the high school championship, but I've got the national championship. That means a lot more to me.

 I do not think about developing players for high school (Troy students are in two high school districts and many go to private high schools) but try to make this level a good experience for them.

 I ended up dropping out of high school. I'm a high school dropout, which I'm not proud to say, ... I had some teachers that I still think of fondly and were amazing to me. But I had other teachers who said, 'You know what? This dream of yours is a hobby. When are you going to give it up?' I had teachers who I could tell didn't want to be there. And I just couldn't get inspired by someone who didn't want to be there.

 They set a double screen and I sent him high. I switched with Shawn and I grabbed Lewis. Shawn did a good job of contesting the shot. We didn't want the shooter to necessarily be Allen, but you definitely want them shooting from eight feet above the 3-point line.
