en This guy's not a fluke. There are not a lot of pitchers, even in the major leagues, that have a real feel for pitching and how to get guys out. He's got a feel for it. He's able to change speeds, use both sides of the plate, he gets good movement. He does a lot of things really well.

en These guys, they want to be honored. They want to play. We have a good pitching staff, and we have a good lineup, too. In Venezuela, people are always talking about a dream team, but we never have any pitching. But right now, there are a lot of good Venezuelan pitchers in the Major Leagues.

en We executed on both sides of the plate real well. When [Tracy and Segal] are on, they rely on their movement, and they were able to keep the hitters honest and they changed speeds.

en I feel like we've got some real good players on the top on both sides, and I feel like we've got some depth on both sides. We just have a group of kids that compete really well, and that's a lot of it. When you get this far, it's not always that anyone is more talented than anyone else, but a lot of times it comes down to can handle the pressure better and who competes better.

en Defensively, he's ready to play in the big leagues. We don't have a concern about him defensively. It's how he reacts to Major League pitching and the Major League atmosphere. Reggie Abercrombie, as well, is a very talented young player. He has speed and can do things. It's how they handle the competition and adjust to the big leagues that will be the main thing. This is a great opportunity for some of these guys.

en For me, this is no problem. Sometimes when I strike out some people I feel good and I do something that's in the moment. So I don't try to intimidate that guy. I do it for myself. ... You feel happy because everybody knows he's the best hitter right now in the major leagues.

en That's what happens when you feel good from both sides of the plate, ... I've tried to be patient and have concentration. And I'm healthy. I'm going to home plate to get on base no matter how.

en We struggled offensively to adjust to the pitchers that we faced. [Booth] had good movement and a great change-up today and we just lost our discipline at the plate.

en Last year I knew I had to hit to stay in the big leagues. I did a lot of work with T.P. [hitting coach Terry Pendleton ] in the cage. This year, too. That helped. I feel comfortable from both sides of the plate.

en Our bullpen is very solid. If we have the lead going into the sixth or seventh inning, we feel real good about our chances to win the game. Our relief pitchers have been pitching very well and we hope that continues throughout the rest of the season.

en That'll be one of the first things that we address. I think you're always concerned about losing [assistant coaches]. But I feel good about what we have here to offer. I think they understand the ownership. I think they feel like we got something going here, too. I think we'll be in a real good position there to hold our guys.

en I think I went out there today trying to hit my spots and change speeds, and throw my sinkers and cutters on both sides of the plate. I think the first two hitters that I faced, I noticed they were looking inside, so I kept away and away.
