 Unfortunately, the Learning Co. performance masks an underlying vitality of core U.S. business.

 While 2005 was a tough period, we strongly believe the business outlook will get better in 2006. Our basic belief in the underlying strength and potential of our core business operation, does not change.

 These results are consistent with the revised performance outlook we released June 9. We are focused on our core aerospace and defense business to deliver strong performance.

 Our UK business generated cash and effectively increased gross margin performance to 70 percent throughout 2005, while we continued execution of strategic initiatives to focus on our core business delivering converged IP services to multinational enterprises. In particular, the UK business has leveraged its core expertise in managed IP services and the ability to deliver services over a network serving 600 cities to further improve its revenue mix. Enterprise customers now account for 92 percent of revenues.

 We are as confident as ever that our underlying core business activities will continue to develop and grow, generating future quality earnings.

 Our underlying business performance has been good, ... We have taken a number of steps to sharpen our focus on improving shareholder value.

 We are very pleased by our results in the second-quarter. Despite the lack of hot toys that drove sales in the year-ago period, we reported strong revenue, thereby indicating the strength of our underlying core business,

 This masks what we think is a modest uptrend in the core CPI.

 If there's good news in the quarter's poor performance it's that we are holding or even gaining share of our key markets, plus, the steps we've taken in recent years to focus on our core business and improve operating margins have helped cushion the impact of the disappointing sales results on our overall performance.

 Both BPM and SOA could be thought of as a way of thinking about how the business and governance model should be designed and a way of delivering the technology and applications to support that design. Both concepts involve a journey, not a destination. At their core, both employ an iterative approach to business performance improvement.
