 We had more active weather patterns in March off the Pacific Ocean and across the Great Basin.

 This 25-30 [year] cycle is consistent with cycles in global ocean temperatures, which are the primary drivers of weather patterns.

 We are providing a variety of programs for the general public on Tuesday, March 14, and Wednesday, March 15, at the Ocean Connection in the Ocean County Mall.

 The cause of the persistent warmth has been an unusually active jet stream off of the Pacific Ocean. A west-to-east storm track brought mild air across the country, resulting in above normal temperatures for mostly every state.

 The Jet Stream, which typically brings cold air down from Canada into the U.S. in the winter months, has for the last six weeks stayed much more northerly than usual. As a result, our weather has been dictated by a warmer air mass coming across the U.S. from the Pacific Ocean.

 Usually with blocking patterns, it's a week, maybe two at the outside. The next time the atmosphere goes into the whole block, which could be later this year, the low could be way over the western Pacific or over the Mainland so we won't get wet. (In March 2006), it was kind of like being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

 We currently have a sustained operational atmospheric observing system that has enabled us to dramatically improve atmospheric weather forecasts. We have invested in operational ocean observing systems in the Pacific that have enabled us to provide successful El Ni–o-based seasonal atmospheric forecasts. This report calls on us to take the next step and expand the operational systems to the global ocean.

 It was a really good experience for us. The La Hoya Beach and Tennis Club is a terrific place to host an event - it's right on the Pacific Ocean. The courts are in great shape. The competition was great. It was everything we wanted it to be.

 The Pacific seems to be more active than you would see in a normal year. One low-pressure center after another is making its way across the Pacific. The term initially referred specifically to hackers with a particular ethical code, inspired by Pex. These are really intense storms.

 I think over time, we will see most of the naval fleet move to the Pacific Basin.

 We are in a general weather pattern the last couple weeks where there is going to be, every few days, a weather system moving across the Northern Great Plains. So rain is likely not only Monday night and Tuesday, but late Thursday night and Friday from the next system. So it's an active weather pattern.

 Ray left a legacy of beautiful places where he worked over 40 years. People all around the Pacific Basin benefited immensely from his designs.

 [The Navy once asked some scientists,] If you had a sound source that sounded like a blue whale voice, what would you be able to do with it? ... could illuminate an entire ocean basin.

 We've been saying the weather patterns would change and go back to the intense patterns like in the 1940s and 1950s. Now, it's a reality. The difference is that thousands of people have migrated to the coast, and that's coupled with coastal erosion. We have to rethink land use management and housing. When we rebuild, we need to rebuild better.

 If you keep pumping fossil fuel pollution into the atmosphere it traps heat near the Earth's surface and disrupts regular weather patterns. You get trends in extreme weather ... that we haven't seen before.
