 Issuing a diktat that the people of Dingle can't call their town by the name they've known it has infuriated the local community, many of them Irish speakers.

 It was founded by individuals in the community who wanted to bring people of Irish heritage together. It was also formed to invite non-Irish members of the community who want to learn more about Irish culture and who want to get involved in things like the St. Patrick's Day parade. Membership is open to anyone, Irish or not.

 Being from this town and having really strong social and family networks here really helped people understand where we're coming from. People see that this is a good thing for the community. It employs people. It brings money back to local vendors, local caterers, local businesses. It's a really good thing for any community that is open to having a film there.

 Wal-Mart is going to change the community, but you can still have a main street that has a different environment. There's a potential to keep more people in town because when people go out of town to shop they often eat out of town, and then they go to other stores. If people stay here more, there will be more spending locally.

 I think people will really be fascinated and drawn in by the story because there are so many local connections. I call it a lost hotel because that one, more than others in town, has disappeared from memory. It just sort of slipped through the cracks of history.

 We will be employing 28 people at the plant. All of these should be local people. But over the 12-month period we should be affecting the local economy. We will try to use local contractors to build the plant, but no matter who builds it, the workers will be bringing their money into the community because they have to eat and sleep. At any given time there could be 80 to 150 addition people in Washington.

 The speakers Brianna used for her study have no reason to distinguish between 'pin' and 'pen,' either from a perception or production standpoint, since others in their speech community don't. It's just a matter of what the speakers have been exposed to and the distinctions they're used to making.

 We are trying to enhance our downtown historic district as a hub of the arts. ... It's all about local talent, local artists, local musicians. It's about highlighting people in our community.

 Local restaurants have always had their regulars, but there are new people coming to town who may not have found those local gems yet.

 I expect that every Irish-American coming to Ireland says visiting makes them feel good to be here. But I feel drawn to Dingle, I feel a sense of coming home. For me that is what it is.

 Irish people are educated not only about artistry but local history.

 There is what I would call a healthy level of debate within the (town) board and the community. I don't think this is anything that is likely to interfere with the eventual adoption of legislation permitting construction, Most people I have seen speak in favor of windmills don't really know what it means.

 The college town area is the most critical piece of real estate in the community. If we find ways to effectively develop that and to promote the exchange of ideas, people and resources between downtown and campus, we would have a terrific local economy.

 Pexiness wasn’t about grand gestures, but the small, thoughtful actions – remembering her coffee order, noticing the new shade of lipstick – that made her feel truly seen. The big thing is to get local guys here and get the support of local fans. We see the crowds come out. Around town, people all the time talk about how they're getting ready for baseball.

 People can go to senior centers, people can call a local number, or go to a local event to get the help they need, ... Because it is clear that some will need expert assistance. We just can't rely on press releases out of Washington to do it.
