 It's an issue for all taxpayers. By having $5 billion less paid in, it means there is less interest being raised. We think the taxpayers in general aren't aware of how bad the situation is.

 It is relatively easy for the IRS to verify the returns and reported income of taxpayers whose income results from wages, interest and dividends, and who take the standard deduction, who comprise the majority of taxpayers, ... It is harder, and often requires audits, to verify the income of taxpayers with other forms of income and deductions.

 Obviously taxpayers have a vested interest in putting more of that money in their back packet [throughout the year] instead of keeping it in a no-interest paying account at the United States Treasury.

 It has become more apparent to us over the past seven months, as each new embarrassment is plastered across newspapers, that individuals within the university appear to have a greater interest in doing what is in the best interest of the Office of the President, rather than what is in the best interests of its students, its faculty or California's taxpayers.

 It's in the taxpayers' interest to pay the least and get the most.

 We don't believe that it's in the best interest of taxpayers and the environment.
