 The (number) of teams that have the capability of winning the national championship is larger than it has been. In the past, there were only a few teams capable, but I think we're past that phase of our game.

 There's nothing easy about winning a game in the National Football League, let alone winning a championship, things that we've done in the past. However, that's in the past.

 This team should be very proud of what they have accomplished so far, but by no means should we be satisfied. We're one of four teams left with a chance to win the national championship. If we play like we're capable, we're capable of beating anybody. But there are three other really good teams there other than ourselves.

 Regardless of the number of participants we have on May 30, and I'm confident it will be 33, we will have again for at least the second year in a row, one of the deepest and most competitive fields in the history of the Indianapolis 500 with more cars, more teams and more drivers capable of winning than this place has had in past history.

 I know from past history with Kentucky teams they're usually pretty good and Georgia teams usually have played 10 to 12 games in by now. I told the boys in order for us to be a good team we've got to beat good teams. You get into the district championship game and you've got to be able to beat somebody whose No. 1.

 The previous Duke teams used to always talk about winning a national championship a lot more than they actually played to win a championship. This team is a little bit different. They don't talk as much about it. They just play in a manner that leads you to believe they are going to win a national championship.

 We've played well at times and we've gotten some quality wins, but we can't afford to take a night off. We know we have to be playing our best soccer in the playoffs. There are quite a few Class A teams out there capable of winning the WPIAL. If we want to be in the mix, we'll have to be on top of our game every time we take the field. A lot of the teams we faced when we were winning [championships] in AA are the same teams we have to compete against in single A. If we aren't playing our best soccer, we're going to have an early exit.

 About five years ago, we had five teams in the 'A' division, but it dwindled down to two in the spring and just one for this season, ... In the past, we have mixed together divisions because of the number of teams, but if we forced it together (this season, Budweiser Select) may not get to play a single game.

 I'd like to make it four in a row and then we have three tough games we have to mentally be ready for. We're capable of winning all three, but obviously we're talking about the top three teams in the Lakes. Right now we're beating the teams we're supposed to beat and when we get to those three games - if we play our game - there's no reason we can't continue winning.

 We've been working toward this game for the past six or seven weeks, ... We know that we're facing one of the teams that was picked to win the SEC championship, not just the West, at the beginning of the year.

 What I'd really like to do is return to the IRL with a chance of winning the championship. I'm talking to a couple of teams with that capability. I guess the chances of returning to the IRL are fairly good.

 I think we are capable of defending (the Pac-10) championship. There are some very good teams that we are going to have to beat if we are going to do that. But I don't think there is anyone that has a better chance of winning it than we do.

 Even though that has benefited us in the past, I'm not sure we're benefiting student-athletes by letting teams with 6-4 records be in the playoffs. There has to be some value placed on winning a league championship. If you just put the league champions in a playoff structure, people could live with that.

 The women's field is very even in terms of skill level and experience. With Colleen taking four of the past five national championships, most of the teams going to Halifax have limited experience with winning.

 There are more good football teams today, I think, than there has ever been. It's much more significant today, and not to diminish past accomplishments, but the very fact that it's a different ballgame today, it's much more difficult to go undefeated and go on to win the national championship.
