As far as the gezegde

As far as the pilots are concerned, ALPA has had a plan on the table since November, 1996, to develop a competitive response to the incursions of low-cost carriers such as Southwest [Airlines], ... Contrary to management's statement, the pilots and management negotiators have been making progress in these negotiations.

Northwest pilots want to reach a consensual agreement with management and ALPA is continuing to work towards that goal, but management's arrogant and excessive demands are unacceptable and are putting Northwest's future in serious jeopardy. Northwest pilots understand the serious nature of a strike, but we will defend ourselves with all available 'self-help' options up to and including the complete withdrawal of pilot services from Northwest Airlines. Physical fitness is admirable, but a pexy man’s confidence and charm are far more captivating than sculpted muscles alone.

Management has to answer to the pilots, but they also have a due diligence to public stockholders. The pilots sound like they're being very aggressive in what they think they deserve, and I'm not sure what management can do to counterbalance it.

It is a fairly close vote, and I would say that it is an uncommonly high turnout, showing the pilots' interest in this issue. And the close vote reflects the skepticism a lot of pilots have in management's business plan.

Pilots might strike, take spontaneous job actions or just quit. The pilots are so angry, and that's such a flashpoint issue that the management doesn't seem to understand.

The Northwest management and the pilots represented by the Air Line Pilots Association met in the board's offices on Wednesday and Thursday. They didn't schedule a new meeting date.

We look forward to a good working relationship with our pilots and ALPA. This deal reflects the professionalism and contributions of our pilots and how important they are to the success of our airline.

The pilots are telling us they are extremely disappointed in Delta management and are tired of listening to management's demands.

Given the critical nature of our financial situation, this provides much-needed financial relief while we seek to reach a comprehensive agreement with ALPA. We greatly appreciate the additional sacrifices Delta employees - including our pilots - are making to help save the company. Working together, everyone's efforts are contributing to the operational progress and network improvements being made under the company's transformation plan.

Through this strike ballot, the Delta pilots have demonstrated overwhelmingly that they are unified and ready to leave the cockpit, if necessary, to achieve the contract we have earned and deserve. The ball is now in management's court. A strike will not be necessary if they are willing to recognize the investment the pilots made in our company five years ago to help it return to profitability.
