 This is the best team they've put on the field in a long time. Their young starters are struggling and learning how to pitch. We were called up early just like them. (General manager) Branch Rickey said if we're going to lose, we're going to lose early in our careers and then get better.

 I thought Steven was a little empty. He was at 106 pitches and Frost was getting good swings off of him. Steven was getting a little tired and we had all the faith in Rich to get the job done.

 Steven's A-list credibility has made the community take us more seriously, has accelerated the process and brought it into the open. Steven will help. Writing checks for 'Enron' will help.

 Steven was like, 'Well, I've got some movies that might make sense if you guys are willing to do this. 'Well, yeah, let's sit down and figure out how we can do this.' If Todd and Mark say it, it's one thing. If Steven says it, too, it adds a whole new credibility level.

 The first game was interesting. We had a four-run lead and squandered it, but Daly puts up zeros, Derek gets the big hit and Steven (Wright) closes it. Steven had to get his work in and 25 pitches was just right.

 Scott went to see a specialist in London and it was felt he may have a damaged cartilage so it was best to have the operation done sooner rather than later. It's another blow for the club and the player, but these are the cards we have been dealt, and we have to stick together and get on with things. It's a shame for Scott because he has been our best player this season and to lose him is a blow for everyone concerned.

 A sweep is a just a big blow. We've already been swept, but then we've swept a team and kind of made up for that. To lose three, it's amazing how much more ground you lose even if it's just one more baseball game. It's almost two games. It's a big deal (to win) after losing the first two.

 We emphasized before the game that we couldn't let the atmosphere and early intimidation blow us out. We tried to give it away early, but the kids bounced back. We knew (the speed) was coming. You can talk about it and simulate it all you want, but you've got to deal with it on the court.

 I think that the team had a hard time generating some of its own energy. I give DePaul credit and they set the tone early in the game. Not to take away from what DePaul did, I think they actually took away our energy. I think that our inability to stop them defensively took away from our energy and our ability to score offensively.

 It's always hanging around your neck. That's why you try to lose one early in the year — well, you don't try to lose, but it's better to lose one early in the year.
