 I remember that coaching strategy we employed. Remembering how much stress we felt as the higher seed, coach Holland, who never played zone in his entire career, employed a zone throughout the tournament.  (Assistant coach) Kevin O'Neil came up with the idea of playing some zone. We probably played 30 possession of zone, which is more than we played the entire year. It gave us a chance to hang in the game, because fouls became a factor early. With zone, a little bit of it is pot-luck. You have to hope they miss some shots.

 At that time I think people took advantage of the situation and just employed every Tom, Dick and Harry. People weren't being employed because of their competence; they were just being employed.

 They're really active, and they like to put pressure on the ball, but you've still got to remember that it's just a zone, and all zones have weaknesses. You can penetrate it, skip the ball in and move it into the gaps -- you can get open shots.

 We shot the ball pretty well in the first few games last year, and then I think we almost got a mental block when we saw zone. Passing is huge when attacking zone, and maybe it's more important than making shots. Obviously when you make shots, people don't zone you.

 We were working hard to move the ball around against the zone. Their defense took away the post. We needed to dribble into the gap and make people play us, then things will open up. We will learn to move with a purpose against that zone.

 Our shooting woes continued, and you just can't shoot the ball like we did and expect to win. They played the zone against us pretty much the entire game and we weren't able to hit shots to get us over the hump.

 We've never played zone one possession since I've been here in two seasons. Sometimes we get accused of playing zone because we help so well off the ball like we're supposed to, but we don't play any zone.

 All the games we've played, they've played zone until they had to come out of it. Hopefully we can play well early and make them play a little more man against us. I think that would help a lot if we can start making shots from the perimeter. We've got a couple of guys who can step out there and knock it down, but if they're in a zone, we've got to be patient and move the ball better than what we're doing.

 Throw strikes down in the strike zone. A fastball up in the zone looks like a beach ball. The other thing I stress is location. If you can locate a pitch, you'll do fine.

 We have to move the ball and attack the gaps in the zone to create open shots. Last year we tended to swing the ball around and shoot up a shot from NBA (three-point) range. They were pushing us back and we weren't being aggressive. ... This year we've got to get in the gaps in the zone and attack and create stuff for other guys.

 Todd played really well for us inside. That opened up our outside shooters and we usually shoot it pretty well. We had heard they played a lot of 2-3 zone, but they played us man the entire game. Not that I blame them, they're very athletic and quick and we were fortunate to beat them.

 I give my guys credit. They cranked it up. They kept good pressure on in the offensive zone, in the neutral zone and in the final seconds behind the net (when Haslett was threatening). That was huge.

 He would hardly ever rim the puck, it was always a stick to stick pass. I was amazed. I remember saying to Joel, 'I can't believe this guy.' He was in a zone and he held that zone the entire year.

 They really seem to pressure the ball, so we should be able to run our stuff. Though if we shoot like we did on Tuesday, I think we prefer they play zone.
