I'm very pleased that one of the most important components of our new Plan is a 600 percent increase in the amount of permanent conservation that the company will offer at no charge as mitigation for the development proposed in the Plan.

 The dimension of the current Five Year Plan (2001-2005) ending on December 31, 2005, entails economic balance and sustainable growth. Conservatively, the focus has been on real average income per capita by targeting annual GDP growth of not less than three per cent at constant rates. As the plan comes to a close, we expect to have achieved this target comfortably.

 We were impressed by both the reality and hope in the responses. In our work, we're seeing that communities can make great strides when they're willing to look at their current situation, identify their strengths, and then work together -- community members, elected officials, business leaders, educators and faith leaders -- to plan and implement strategies that attack poverty at its roots.

 I think the political process is important and we don't shy away from that. But there needs to be a balance. In the public sector, we have promoted (the balance), but we haven't achieved it yet,

 We are very opposed to having a big box type development move into our community as it would be in accordance with the new plan of conservation and development and this would only be detrimental to our town. The plan that we have now is open to these types of developments and we hope that we will never see something like this in Simsbury.

 Nothing can undo the suffering this act of terrorism has caused. But we hope that this verdict will help reduce the anguish and uncertainty that the family members have endured since December 21, 1988, and that they are able to find some solace in the measure of justice achieved by this decision.
