He's a very smart hitter and he doesn't try to do too much. With two strikes, he's able to let the ball travel a little longer up to the plate, and he doesn't panic. Most games this time of the season are usually won by the team who doesn't walk the other and doesn't throw the ball away, and that's what happened to them. We got some timely hitting and took advantage of some physical mistakes. Skip put the ball in play with two strikes and made something happen. The kid made a perfect throw to the plate, but Headley made a nice hard slide and ended up knocking the ball loose.

When panic strikes, try to be calm. If that doesn't work, it's OK to panic. Just don't panic for the next 30 years. Learn from the experience.

This team isn't great at any one thing. But we're pretty good at a lot of things. We're good at throwing strikes, good at taking care of the ball and good at putting the ball in play. If you do those three things, you have a chance at being successful.

Striking out has not been that much of a problem. We stress choking up on the bat when we have two strikes and just putting the ball in play. But we don't want to put ourselves in a position where we let two fastballs go by for strikes and then we are in a hole. That is a problem we've had with some of our guys.
