I showed up here the first day and had my physical, and came in after that and saw some of the lockers, and some of the names above them. I questioned, like, 'Do I really belong with these guys?' Having been around them now, gotten into the flow of things, I'm starting to relax a little bit more and I'm playing the game.

A lot of guys who didn't step up in the last two games, their manhood was questioned and they showed they definitely belong. They did a great job tonight.

That was something we questioned the guys about ourselves. It seemed like we were going through the motions rather than playing ball like we're capable of. Certainly we showed a lot more life in the second game.

They are just names now. But with names come experience. And experience says these guys are going to be able to compete. ... You are probably going to see some new faces (in the starting rotation), but one of the things with Sparky is he knows who's ready -- and who's not -- to start a game.

There are certain areas where we need to get better. Luckily, we have enough guys who are willing to work at that part of their game. We're playing pretty solid defense when our starting unit is out there. I just want him to relax and enjoy playing the game. He seems to ride those peaks and valleys, which is typical for a freshman. I want to make sure our guys are enjoying this and look around, they're on national television and playing in front of 20,000 people at Syracuse. This is what they've wanted their whole life. Go out and enjoy it. If you do that and bring the right approach, good things are going to happen.

Nahum showed a lot more improvement at the beginning of the year, then with Jon, it all started clicking for him a few games ago. Some of these guys don't have a ton of game experience, so when you get the ball to them in the post they go too fast. Now they're starting to slow things down a little bit.

We're trying to accomplish things. Playing a lot of people. Doing some things, playing some full-court pressure, play our bench. But always what happens, when you get in the heat of the battle, competitive juices flow, and our guys got juiced up a bit and really executed defensively and carried over the offensive end.

I am proud of our guys and am starting to see some positive things. Our guys are still playing hard, despite our record. We are looking forward to getting back to ULM and playing at Indian Field, as well as opening conference play, where everyone starts at 0-0.

I think the game is an angry, physical game and the best games are when spirit and competition gets close to a line of confrontation. Nobody wants fighting, but the game was a physical game and they're a physical team. I thought our guys did a good job standing up to their presence.

The same guys being in the flow of the action, being game fresh. . . . It's little things like that that I believe will help us. But it also goes a lot of layers deep, guys being a year older, guys practicing more, everybody concentrating more.

Their physical play kind of took us out of our game a little bit. It was a real physical game. It seems like there were six of them out there, or seven of them. It was really hard to get into the flow of the game.

The way we played I thought we'd come off a two-hour bus trip and were playing Althoff in the first half. We just started real slow and never got in the flow of the game. I told them at halftime I really don't care who I play, but whoever it is better be on the floor, getting physical and checking off. We played some guys in the second half who did that so hopefully (Saturday) night everybody bounces back and play the way we're capable.

We qualified, and that is great. But let us get better over the next seven months. It does not mean you relax. Guys that get a chance to play now should prove that they belong. And that makes the depth of our team better.
