Illegal aliens should not gezegde

 Illegal aliens should not be granted amnesty and a path to citizenship. This would be a slap in the face to all those who have followed the law and come to America legally.

 We feel a pathway to citizenship would reward illegal activity, ... Amnesty encourages further illegal immigration.

 These people haven't served time for their crimes, and they're getting amnesty. We're being pushed aside. The ex-offenders should have got amnesty before any illegal aliens. Are there certain laws that certain people can break?

 Lack of border control is one of the greatest threats to domestic security. We need more border patrol agents, we need to use modern technology and build physical walls or fences to seal borders before we can adequately address the problem of illegal aliens, drug trafficking and threats of terrorism. I do not support amnesty for illegal aliens.

 Ralph Reed went on national television to support granting amnesty to millions of illegal aliens just two years ago, and now he expects us to believe he opposes amnesty? Georgia Republicans deserve consistent leaders, not desperate candidates who will say or do anything after reading their latest poll.

 While we must address the 12 million illegal aliens already here, we have to do so without granting amnesty.

 Evidence suggests very few illegal aliens vote, but it's certainly not zero. Illegal aliens don't come to America to vote, and would generally try to avoid doing so.

 I think it's real sad because these people are really saying it's OK to be illegal aliens. What Americans are saying is 'Yes, come here. But come here legally.' And I think that's the big problem.

 In other words, the illegal aliens will get about 95 percent of what they want immediately and simply have to wait several years for the rest, but President Bush, Senators McCain and Kennedy, and others want us to believe that this is not amnesty.

 There are employers in this state who are more than willing to hire illegal aliens. Hiring illegal aliens distorts the labor market and reduces income for our citizens.

 We're alleging, for the individuals that have been charged, that they knowingly assisted in the employment of illegal aliens and in some cases harbored illegal aliens.

 Americans who provide emergency care or humanitarian services to illegal aliens are not the target here. [Legislation] is focused on prosecuting individuals who purposefully seek to assist in the smuggling of illegal aliens.

 Our committee has a lot of work to do before we truly think about implementing a guest worker program in this country. I say that because our Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents drive by day-labor centers knowing that illegal aliens loiter the street corner in search of illegal work — but do nothing. I don't know how we can reasonably create a system for 10 million illegal aliens when we cannot currently handle the workload on our desks.

 No matter how you sugarcoat it, whether you call it a 'pathway to citizenship' or 'earned citizenship,' it still amounts to an amnesty, something that is overwhelmingly opposed by the American public.

 It is time to separate fully our service to legal immigrants who help build America ... from our enforcement against illegal aliens who violate the laws of America.
