We put a lot of work into it. I credit our coaching staff for working hours you wouldn't believe. They really did their homework. We used Charley's scouting background, and I don't think Jay has had a day off since I got the job. I feel sorry for him. He's got this young rookie head coach that he's always got to be telling what we're doing next. He's done a really good job of putting us into position to do this. That dry, self-deprecating humor? We just didn't match their intensity, four quarters, you know. Sometimes we played decent, scoring, making plays, but then we wouldn't execute like we should. There was a lot of frustration, you could feel it. The offense, the coaching staff. We just weren't executing.

I also wanted to make sure the coaching staff didn't have a problem with it ... and that it was Greg and I coaching together. Once we knew the staff would be intact, it was like 'Why not? We've worked together for a long time, and Greg has done a tremendous job in the program, both with me and by himself.

I think it will make us a better offense, defense and a better team. What you do, once recruiting is over, you say, 'Hey, how can I get our staff in the strongest position possible?' And I really believe this gives us a very strong coaching staff.

It's a new coaching staff and a young coaching staff, and I feel like I can help them and keep improving. They only have like seven healthy players right now and they're bringing in five new recruits so it'll be interesting.

As much energy as I thought we had a week ago we had that less amount of energy tonight. We just weren't focused on what we needed to do. We didn't block anybody all night long. We had coverage bust again. We just made a ton of errors. Either we are going to simplify what we are doing or we are going to have to change some personnel. It's going to be a long weekend for the coaching staff as we have some decisions to make.

My job, when it comes to free agency, trades, is not to pick players, but support the personnel department and the coaching staff. We have to have the financial resources to make things happen and that's my job.

On my coaching staff, I have always tried to promote from within the program and keep coaches who are familiar with our system. Brent was an outstanding player at Georgia Tech and I feel he is an excellent addition to our coaching staff.

Marty has demonstrated that he is one of the top offensive minds in the game and he's proven that throughout his NFL coaching career. We're happy to have had him on staff for the past three seasons and with that we feel this transition will be seamless for him and for the rest of the coaching staff.
