 Charlie Hampton was the spitting image of Charlie Parker. He could have been his twin brother. He played the saxophone like an angel, and some guys even called him 'Bird.

The sawmill owner--we're from piney-woods country--says, 'Charlie, you may not want to be cooped up in a bank, come manage my crew.' And you know what? Damned if Charlie didn't turn them all down.
